Default Adding Weight

Have any of you found any benefit in adding weight to the chassis tub in the CC01? I've been thinking about throwing in some lead to allow the truck to move more realistically. I've always thought scale trucks just weren't scale enough that way.

From what Ive read its best to add lead weights to the rims inside the tires before you mount them..more weight on the tires rather than the suspension itself...my unimog is really well balaced front to rear but am going to try the weights on the rims with the next tire set.

I've got a good amount of weight in the wheels, no problem there. I'm not looking to increase capability, however, as much as realism. Lexan bodies and plastic chassis do a poor job of simulating the way a real truck moves. If you watch some of Headquake137's video on YouTube, you cab get a good idea of what I'm after. Besides slowing his video down to create scale motion, the bodies on his rigs weigh a ton, as they're carved out of plywood. They have a wonderful wallow and body roll.

Funny thing about getting true scale action from an RC is that the tires/wheels actually need to be smaller and lighter than they traditionally are to make them act more "real".

I know what you mean, but it will limit the chassis overall I think. It's hard enough getting up a steep slope, but you want to add extra weight above the axles? Just use the stick on wheel weights all over the chassis if you're that keen.

Ive seen alot of his videos and yeah body movement is crucial to realism in videos..I slow mine down to help that out in a video..you could add heavier oil to the shocks..try and lessen the "bounce" factor a little bit..have to experiment a little myself now..lol

I've got some 55wt in the shocks right now. Seems pretty good when combined with the brown buggy springs. I'll be looking for an rc4wd 4:1 gru very soon. My 55t just isn't slow enough! Just picked up a radio I can slow down the steering with, too.

It's coming along.
