| Total noob to cc-01's
It all started when I bought a unimog kit, it sat around after I built it due to the non locking front end, then found out that it was easily fixed with hot glue, now I have a Pajero as well and this time im going all out on it. The only problem with that is I dont know the tips and tricks to get the most of the platform. I have heard about a "magic link" that allows more flex in the rear, using a GRU which I have no idea how to install, im doing research on these and there are some really tricked out ones out there so I know it'll be a fun build. Any insight would be appreciated |

Welcome back to the world of the CC01, there is quite a bit of info in this recent thread, ESC, Motor, Wheels/Tyres & GRU Set Up. The 'magic link' you speak of is just a drop link, you can make them a million different ways, but they just let the shock droop a lot lower than its spring rate will allow. If you have a go at this, make sure you design them in a way that will make them swing one way only. If they can swing both ways, you'll end up with your shocks at different angles as the links drop and are then pushed back up. Here is a great photo of one, http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/...C706CF6E64.jpg. As for the GRU, it's really easy if you get the RC4WD one. Its the same diameter as any 540 sized motor so no custom mounts or anything are needed. You just need to cut a little bit of the tub to let them motor slide backwards and then you flip your battery 90deg, pics and info here, ESC, Motor, Wheels/Tyres & GRU Set Up. |

Ordered some GPM parts for both of them as well as 2 GRU's one 3:1 and a 4:1. Cant wait to tear into em and make a great little crawling rig out of them

What turn motor you going for? I've got an RC4WD 45t and was thinking a 2:1 gru (I was recommended). Let me know how you're getting on with the other gru's

Yeh I would be looking at a 35t motor to go with a 3:1 or 4:1. Unless you want insane amounts of torque and a max speed of an infant crawling.

Wow, 55t and 4:1 makes 220t output to the spur gear. I'll bet it could rip the bark off a tree then drag the tree behind it too lol.

Here is a video of one of the cc01's I had. 55t with 4:1 RC4WD gru. At the end you can see how fast full throttle is. MDR 5 7 09 - YouTube | |

So judging by what you guys have said a 45t with a 2:1 would be ok for trail riding and some crawling?

That is the combo I run. Enough wheel speed to get you out of trouble, but enough torque to push you anywhere you need to go. Plus top speed is above walking pace so you wont just be sitting on full throttle to do some trail drives.

I will be joining you soon as a CC01 noob. I scored a sweet Bronco here in the classifieds and have since ordered: BR-XL Waterproof Torquemaster Expert 55t BLS452 Servo Receiver Going to run that on 3s so I don't have to buy more batteries. I'm thinking if its too much I can limit the power with throttle end points or in the ESC. This sound like a solid CC01 setup? |
