| RC4WD 5 bolt issue
I have a set of 1.9" steelies an had them mounted on some DC MC tires and thought they were pretty good but wanted a bigger tire. I've been trying to mount them with a set of Boggers now and there seems to be no way to seal them on the bead. After 4 attempts they will not seal, I can pull them off the rim by hand with not a bunch of effort. Anyone have an issue like this before?

Well, its been 3 hours of mounting an unmounting tires, not buying the 5 bolts ever again.

These wheels are notoriously difficult when mounting most non-RC4WD wheels. I had problems with PitBulls and Swampers and finally came up with this: Underground Crawlers RC4WD spacers Last edited by C*H*U*D; 10-28-2012 at 04:10 PM. |

It's rare that a non rc4wd tire will fit on the rims better just stick with rc4wd tires

Been using the RC4WD Boggers, never had any issues with any of my other RC4WD steelies. I have 4 sets and only 1 is the 5 bolt.

W/o the tire, do you see any visible problems? Like the wheel faces dont meet flat in the middle or an excessive gap between middle spacer and wheel edges?

Nothing out of the ordinary on any of the rims. The 5 bolt rims have a different bead seat than the 6 bolt, that is the only thing I can figure out. On a side note I gave up on them for a bit and went for a trail run and cooked my 2nd Orion motor in 15 minutes, never using them again. The good news (sarcasm) is that when these motors cook they fry em esc as well.

Got a set of 6-bolt 1.55 steelies with slingers on them and they continually come off the bead. When they get wet at least one will completely dismount itself. Put a set of IROK'S on them, same thing. At a club GTG this weekend a guy was running some 1.55 with slingers and couldn't finish a 16 minute course without a complete dismount, with a relatively slow rig. Mine's no powerhouse either. They look great but function not so great...

So the 1.55 rc4wd steelies have a hard time holding a bead? Huh, typical of rc4wd...lol. I guess I'll be glueing mine.

That's odd I've had 3 sets of 1.55 steelies with both slingers and rock stompers and never had one even try to lose a bead even when extremely wet. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Mine are the 1.9 5 bolts, the 6 bolts have never had an issue but the 5 bolts will not hold. Sounds like the 1.55 are similar. The issue is not the size of the rim its the ring thickness, it seems to need to be just a bit wider.

Have you tried taking a file to the surfaces of where the bead sits and giving something for the rubber to bite onto? I have the 6 bolt 1.9's and pitbulls... I realize I do not have the same wheels but I was experiencing similar issues.. I took a file to all the surfaces and really did a number on the inside mating surfaces. Haven't had issues since. Made mounting easier too. I actually have no experience with those wheels so I'm very sorry if this post is useless to you. I just figure they're principally alike. |

I had the same issue mounting rovers on my 2.2 steelies and all I did was go to home depot and bought some plumbing pvc pipe and cut it roughly 1/4 inch wider then stock piece. Stupidly easy to mount the tires now
