Well, I have to say I was skeptical at first. The first run was not what I expected, lots of wheel spinning and less than stellar performance, I wasn't impressed. But then after about an hour, they started to hook up, and by the end of the day I was pulling lines that none of my other tires would do as easily as these (even my Rock Beast's). On the rocks, even in the trails, loose dirt, roots, they handled it all. I mounted them on steelies with stock foams and 2oz weight each, on stock scx10 based Cherokee, only issue was side-hilling, but I can fix that with decent foams. I guess I only have one thing to say......

Are y'all having as much trouble mounting these 1.55 Growlers on the stock white steelies from the TF2 kit? I am just using the stock dual stages that came with them first to try them out.

I'm having a hard time catching that screw to poke out from the back of the hub. Any tips?

^^something like this may help. I use an old servo horn I cut down and 3x8mm screw with nut and basically install it in thw middle of the wheel after I seat the beads. Tighten down enough and install two screws opposite of each other to keep the holes lined up, then tighten the "hub screw" till the lug screws show enough to get the tiny nuts on. This is my method plus patience...and don't forget blue loctite.

I wish I had thought about that... I mounted mine up on steelies last night.
Wasn't the easiest but they sure look good!

Received a set of Growlers yesterday and mounted them on a set of UTE wheels. Took it out this morning and have to say these are my favorite tire for this truck. Proportionally they are perfect to my eyes. I had a set of MT Baja Claws on this truck last year and had all sorts of problems keeping the truck off it's lid. I love the Baja Claws but they were a bit too tall and with the lift kit the truck just loved to roll.

THe growlers on the other hand are so grippy and being just a bit shorter keeps the truck planted on the ground and the treads grab on to the rocks really nice. Such soft tires and a nice amount of flatting of the tread. My trucks weighs 8.5 pounds so it's probably on the outer limits of the foam but that didn't seem to be a problem.

Pitbull forever!

Talk about torture...I waited 6 MONTHS for these tires..... I was SO happy to finally get them, I had to buy 4 sets just so I could rip them open, pile them up on the floor and roll around naked in them....

There have been some good, helpful ideas posted. Another simple and cheap method I have heard of and used is to just go to the hobby shop and buy two longer 2mm screws that you can use to line up the two haves and because the screws are longer it's much easier to catch the threads with the little nuts. Once they are tightened down a little bit you can easily put the other 3 or 4 screws in and tighten them down completely. then swap out the two longer screws for the normal screws and tighten everything up...your done. Its an extra step, but it takes alot of the headache away.

Ahh why didn't I think of that?! That's how VP beadlocks work anyway and I've put together 3 sets of those now lol!!

Here's a short video i shot yesterday using the Growlers.

I don't have the variety of rocks here in NYC like some of you have so i make due with what i got.

FYI - the rocks are all in the politicians heads here in NYC.

Several hours on the Growlers now. Mostly real world G6'n or G6 type scale runs. Leading edges starting to wear and CrawlerInnovation foams are settling in.

Sent from my thumbs.

After seeing your photo, I went and had a close look at my tires, and mine are getting pretty chewed up also. I'm going to have to take more care, maybe cut down on the wheel spin a tad. I want these to last.

I would think the breaking in would only make them better.
But with a smaller tire there is less meat to the lugs and they should in theory wear faster.
