Since we're talking about cutting here, what's the best way, and easiet way to cut them.? I have a dremel but I've heard other methods.

I cut the grooves with the Dremel. For cutting the lugs off I bought a pair of nibbler pliers.

Dremel with a variety of accessories and nippers work for me.

2.2 Jconcepts sporpios with the ribbing cut off the inside and buffed the carcass thin then shaved the outside. Grooved the hell out of the tread too. Every lug got modified or removed.

2.2 jconcepts ruptures. Shaved the sidewalls, buffed them thin and cut huge amount of reinforced bead area off so the tire flexes. I'm sure they hold their shape in U4 but that's not the hot ticket for crawling.

Ok thanks for the tips guys. I have a dremel and some accessories for it I made need a few more, and I have regular snippers but I think I might have to get a small pair.

Did you sand the sidewalls down? Or actually shave off material some how? I Narrowed a set of Ruptures for my MOA, but did nothing to the sidewalls.

Yea the sidewalls are much thinner now. I used the nippers to remove most of the sidewall lugs and then a 1" sanding stone on the dremel to finish the job. I also removed the whole reinforced bead area with nippers and sanded it down flat.

I've been happy with both sets of jconcepts tires but it took a good bit of work to get here. They keep up with voodoo's so I'm happy.

Very nice. I think I will give it a try, I was thinking of using sandpaper and laying it on a flat surface. Then rubbing the tire sidewall on that in a figure eight pattern to get even sanding. I will have a firm tire foam in the tire too.

You'll never get it perfectly even since the tires have thick and thin spots from the start. I use this bit in the dremel and hold it like a big crayon coloring the side lugs away. Then I go over the whole sidewall with the stone laid flat to take a bit of material off the rest.

Okay I thought I would post these up as a work in progress. Jconcepts Ruptures, narrowed and started shaving the tread off the side walls.

Using the dremel with a sanding drum seems to be working. I'm going to try the sanding stone to see if it will give the tire a nice smooth finish.

Thank you for the response! I didn't really want to use the dremel because the burning rubber smell

Yeah you'll get that from the dremel, along with rubber bits everywhere.
