They're a great tire, but if I'm going to buy a set I'd rather buy them in their best offering of compounds (Alien) if they do in fact plan to release them. If they don't, the Komp compound is just fine. I'd just like to know if it's in their immediate plans, as they seem to be releasing some other tires (1.55 and 1.9 Growlers for example) in the new compound.

There's nothing wrong with them. But why wouldn't you want an improved version?

These are the original Rock Beasts. They are smaller than the new Rock Beast XL. The original Rock Beasts are made in the Komp Kompound. The new Rock Beast XL tires are made in the new Alien Kompound. It is a softer, stickier compound.

Now that I think more about it, if they do decide to manufacture the OG size in Alien Compound, they'll probably come with "new & improved" foams and cost $50 a pair, so maybe I will just order the originals and put my own foams in. That actually work.
