Default Un-glue the tires?

Is there a way to un-glue the tires from the wheels without damaging either of them?

I'm talking about the stock TRX-4 tires and wheels.

Heat gun on low works well, go around the bead about 3in away for 15 seconds at a time, keep pulling at the bead, they will usually let go in about a minute. Don't hold it on there for all full minute just do circles around bead 15 seconds at a time, pulling at tire then repeat. Harbor freight has a nice heat gun for less than $20.

Soak in Acetone overnight, they'll come right off.

There's also the oven method, although it stinks.

OP said he doesn't want damage to either the tires or the wheels. I think either one of these methods will damage one or the other.

I don't have a heat gun available right now. I ordered one, but will take 2-3 days to get here at least. Will a hair drier, like the ones used for hair work, or is the temperature they deliveer too low?

You could try but I think temp is too low, heat guns get pretty hot even on low.

The only problems I have encountered with the acetone method is with ABS wheels (they melt) and with chrome or metallic finish wheels (the coating comes off). Pretty sure the Traxxas wheels are some kind of nylon (since most wheels that aren’t cheap crap usually are) and uncoated so they shouldn’t be affected by acetone. I’ve never had a tire affected by acetone either but then again my sample size has been limited in types of tire compounds.

I've used a hair dryer to remove vinyl door trim, pin stripes, and badges from a 1:1 vehicle many times. If it's hot enough to remove that adhesive it should work in this application, just may take longer and piss off the wife if you burn out the hair dryer. She's caught me sneaking out with hers a few times lol.

Acetone should not affect rubber at all, I used to use this all the time to clean the superglue we used when repairing weatherstripping for OEM manufacturers. Try the hair drier, worst case it doesn't work...

I just did this to my Losi Raptor Rey tires - heat oven to 350, place wheels/tires in oven for 15 minutes.

When they’re cool enough for you to stand, start working the tire from the wheel. All 5 popped right off.
