| stripped set screw
the set screw in my pinion is stripped so how do i get it out with out hurting the pinion? i was going to use a dremel with a cut off wheel and slot it so a flat head screw driver will fit but i dont want to hurt the pinion. any suggestions.

Or just do what you were going to do....a new pinion is what, 2$ right? You'll spend more on ez out then a new pinion......

You could try to see if a Torx bit will fit in there and bite something? I've done that before and it worked.

I drilled one out of a drive shaft on my Honcho. If the pinion is hardened it might be safe to try.

Also left hand bits can work. I keep a few 1/16th", 1/8th" & 1/4" bits. Just as they grab a chip, they may drive the broken part out. I get mine from McMaster Carr. |
