The machine it replaced was not as easy to use. I went to great lengths to improve the low speed resolution and rigidity. Old machine had 1/4" shaft. This one has 1/2". Old machine would really pick up speed under load. This one doesn't really change RPM with the wire sizes typically formed into coils.

Motor is a modified ebike hub motor. Controller is a heavily modified ebike controller plus some additional peripheral components. I made a hall sensor pickup that works with the industrial counter. The last thing left is to hook up the reverse switch so it also reverses the counter, but it's not very often needed and low on my list.

made a quick vid for hooking up motor leads, a customer had just smoked an ESC because the installer soldered to one hood. Wait for the drag brake test at the end

Today's work was motor rewinds for a wild need. Big dollar aircraft tied to teeny cooling motor that is no longer made. Made bushings to Chuck the 17mm stator into the power winder and went at it better than stationary work holding allows for me. Unfortunately the stator shows connection to the coils, so it must be stripped and the stator sandblasted and reinsulated, then rewound again.

Not sure on the YouTube format. I just pulled the embed code from the page.

Some adult humor. Our average customer is old enough to get it.

Making some parts is more hacking away at tool paths than anything else. From right to left, just trying to find the order of operations and feed rates to make a clean part. The milling was giving me fits until I did it first.

I'll be a bit scarce for a few weeks, we are in the final stretch of another uav motor batch for an aerospace company. 364 magnets to prep and glue, keeping my sanity by doing three rotors at a time between small breaks.

Making these extremely high quality outrunners from scratch is no punk job. There is over 8 hours of labor in each one, and the materials alone are over $100. But when a $250,000 uav depends on these little motors to land safely, extra care and quality is not spared. Originally designed for the navy, the autonomous uav is now sold to mostly governments for weather data acquisition at sea.

I'm pretty sure they fly where they damn well please For some reason these weather drones also have stealth fuselage shape and 5000 mile range per tank, along with autonomous refuelling.

I only managed 6 rotors today before the hands gave out. I'll have to make special pliers for handling magnets tomorrow, the pinching motions are really taxing on the grip and I'll fade faster since it's the third day.

In other totally related news, I just got roped into making a UAV with 36lb payload for a videography company. They want to hoist a full size camera and Ronan (sp?) Gimble with bazillions of features. I'm hired to work backwards on the thrust to select electronics, and design and manufacture the frame. I told them they have to tune the damn flight controller, I want nothing to do with crashing it too

So cool of you to share your know how and skills
offering tutorials for the masses.
^ nonexistent with any other mfgr. that I've seen.

love my BR/XL and Exp 35T so much...
both my crawlers were fitted.
The precision and smooth control can't be ignored.

In my future...
Most primarily HH's e components will be residing in my RC's
and I thank you for your dedication to your craft.

I like that my BR/XL is Castle Creations compatible/link adjustable.
as CC's is my other preferred choice.

^ no I'm not sucking up.
it's simply that your quality/performance/support
exceeds all of your competitors offering's.

I'll wish you great success in your venture

anyone that would rate your thread
below 5 stars... has got to be an idiot.

Best thread ever IMO

Not hatin' or anything like that, just kind of surprised to not see a ESD work area. I'm guessing if it was necessary, you'd have one!

Many thanks for the support and kind words! We do try our best to make top quality products. There is a lot of work I can't share but wish I could.

I would be lying to say yes or no I only handle order processing when absolutely necessary.

No problems that we have encountered, probably because the products are fully built with all the filter caps ready to absorb a hit. I've been wanting to upgrade the workstations to esd safe for a while though. Its definitely a goal!

It is, but esd safe surfaces need to be slightly conductive.

New center drill going into action, 20x100mm Sandvik. Primary use is making 20mm compatible bike hubs, but it's super fast for punching holes in billet before boring. Got it set up with internal coolant, running 1500sfm and .005" feed/Rev. 7075t-6 got no chance.

As along time user of another brand of ESCs (over 15 years) I have to say I am totally blown away with your Torquemaster BR-XL. It is as smooth and predictable as what I have been used to, maybe better. I am not a computer type person so electronics are strange to me but the Castle Link solved that problem for me. Both my Class 1 and 2 Comp. trucks have been converted to HH ESCs, and the TF2 Trail rig I am building will get one also. So you see, you can teach an Old Dog new tricks.
