Really close now. 2nd header is in and flooring going down this week.

No more wall in front of the toilet! We will frame in some wall to extend the bathroom into the master, basically doubling the bathroom and giving space for a linen closet. I'm going to make a tile shower instead of an insert. It's so tiny, it will be cheap practice before redoing my master bath at home.

The fella ripping out the kitchen found that the sink drain wasn't hooked up to the stack. Good thing we haven't been living here and using it too much!

silly ifone.

Each time I see the ship lap "log" siding, it reminds me of some siding I've seen on modular houses form the 70's.

The hobby house looks like a catalogue home. Original studs are 2x3s and everything butts together in sections. The log siding is important to keep it standing! Floor didn't go down this week, I ended up ordering some flooring online and saved about $700. It got delivered Wednesday, and install starts Tuesday. A new layer of hardboard first, then a foam underlay, then the plastic interlocking floor last.

Shop updates, the past week I've been working with the resistance brazer. My job really is just keeping tools up. It is used to braze the commutator connection. . The head wasn't holding electrodes properly and thus wasn't working well. Heat wasn't consistent. I took a risk and cut it apart, knowing it would halt production a few days. . The old head was replaced by a brazed collet holder from a TIG torch. Works better than before!

My place had that when I bought it. Didn't feel like real floor when I walked on it. With the tongue and groove and the foam underlay I could feel the floor move. Add in the winter weather changes to an old house and it creeked and wiggled.

You fastening them down to the hardboard or just letting them lock together?

We are just going to let the floor float, it generally causes more problems when it can't expand and contract. There will be thresholds between certain rooms to keep it from creeping too much in the longest runs.

That would be one hulluva drive!

Shot a new vid on the hobby house yesterday. I needs to upload it and stop fretting about calling my south fenceline the north fenceline

The hobby house is coming along nicely. The living room and flame working area is functional.

Looking like I may need to unload the lathe soon. My sugar daddy motor contract has not renewed, and I'm wearing too thin to run a machine shop on top of HH. A rep is coming by this week to assess the value so I can see if selling is the right move. Hate to see it go, but it would be a huge financial and time boost. I could return to studying hardware and software for escs. I can't take motor design much further with toy escs, they are the choke point of innovation right now.

Also just learned I've been selected randomly for an IRS audit. My undergrad in accounting finally pays off, my books are a cinch to run because of how I set up and use accounts. It's still burning up days of time to deal with.

I probably don't have to say it, but I might not be on the Internet for a while.

All the best of luck to you through all of that... and I'd love to see some ESC advances in the future in this hobby!

What does this mean? Are you the OEM for another company's RC motors?

Selling a cool, useful piece of equipment like a lathe would suck, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Good luck with the audit. the IRS. They could and should be investigating shady large companies instead of the little guy.

I know the feeling Mr. Holmes! I've been a contractor for 17 years and got audited a few years back. I was building a large home for a customer and putting an addition on my own house at the same time so they told me that there was a discrepancy between the amount of materials purchased for the year and the amount of income I claimed. So on top of already having to pay some money in to the IRS, I also had to pay my accountant another $2600.00 to handle the audit....... It was nice getting that letter back from the IRS saying that everything checked out and thanks for your cooperation!! Good luck and I hope the audit is quick and painless!!!

I have an OEM contract with an aerospace company. Their motor controllers are terrible, which has halted further production for the moment.
