For the lathe, I know where a mill one is also but it's not a bolt on, needs some stuff made. Treadmill motors are common for the mill. There is a website that deals nothing with the mill upgrades and such.

The treadmill motors are popular on this mill due mainly to packaging constraints. I've seen a few 56c frames mounted to the mill head but there isn't much room left. You must be talking about g0704.com. I based my conversion off his plans just changing a number of things to make it all my own. I haven't looked that deep on putting a new motor on the lathe. It still isn't all cleaned up or running.

That would be awesome Joel. You could knock out the mechanical with little effort. The scary parts for me were electronics and gcode. cad/cam is a necessary evil as well. I'll post some of that stuff soon!

Yesterdays project was the back lawn; new valves/manifold and sprinkler heads, rototillied, leveled, top soil, fertilizer, winter rye planted. Now hurry up and wait to see if it all worked out.

Crawlerdad (Marc) came over yesterday too and painted the new benches for me. Thanks buddy! So today is garage day! Smokey (Matt) is coming over to help get the mill moved, setup and running. Hope to get the lathe off the floor today too. It's nice to have met so many good people through crawling!

Good day!

Picked up a 20" Dell touchscreen for the control.

More work to come. I think Matt threw up a little when he saw my wiring job. But more importantly the the mill is running again!

Matt wanted to make something after we got it running. Had to clear a lot of cobwebs on the running of the control but luckily no endmills were driven into the vise or table.

Thanks Farmer!

I have heard good things about the DMM servo setups but I already purchased the steppers/drivers and motion controller for the lathe. Went with the same exact components as the mill to allow interchangeability if the need ever arises.

Getting closer...

Lights and power this weekend.

Saturday we added 15,900 lumens Controlled via a new wall switch. Pictures don't do it justice.

Before...

After...

Sunday we ran power. (2) 20amp 110v and (1) 20amp 220v circuits. Used (3) 20amp twist locks for the mill, lathe and compressor. They are all 110v right now but are expandable to 220v. Also threw in an outlet for a welder. Hoping my dependency on extension cords and power strips is greatly reduced. Hang some "art" too

Can't wait to dive back into making parts on the mill and getting the lathe running.
