Self feed soldering iron

Interesting product I came across when looking for how to grow a 3rd arm. seems like it might make soldering easier, or it could be crap. No idea, thought I would share since its not crazy expensive.

Interesting. That's an expensive gamble at over $100 though.

Very interesting...would appear to work on the principle of a wire welder feed system. But yeah, risky concept.

Way too complicated, too many things to potentially fail, and too cumbersome for working in tight spaces. I doubt that someone who is proficient at soldering would really need this unless they're performing assembly-line type work. Even then it just looks appears overly bulky and unnecessary. Cool concept though.

A self feeding soldering iron weighs more making a pain to use for long periods of time. The feeder impacts the balance which makes it harder to do fine work.

I have used a Hakko self feeder (Hakko 373) and didn't like it. As long as I had a good board holder, I could solder faster and better without the self feeder.

You would be better off saving up your money and buying a rework station.

Looks complicated to me either. A simple mechanical that make the tin feeding easier using a couple of finger movements.
