An Origin Finder...cool. I always like these Yota bodies with the tires hanging out the side.

Agreed, found that in the attic yesterday and it fits perfectly. I had an old Bruiser interior I was going to modify but the lexan spawn interior is just way too easy. I might go back to a narrower wheel. I originally ran it that way but wanted to test the wider wheels to see how the tire contact affected performance. Does look good this way.

Mounted the interior. Just bolts to the top of the VFD trans cover. I can still access my battery mount and its lightweight. More body work too. Front is pinched and rear bed length was increased to match the WB then bobbed. Rear bed bolts to the chassis, cab is easily removable though. I need to finish the front hood area and work on bumpers / sliders to hide the imperfections. Body needs more sanding and filler. |

Love the Yota hardbody and 4.19 BFGs, glad the pinch was not excessive lol. |

| Re: Brandon's VS4-10 Rear Portal Yota Build Im still messing with it. Wasn't happy with the bed. Going for a super simple cage design and eliminate the rear shock towers. Then I can lean the rear shocks forward on the cage mounts. Thanks Josh for the tubing material and safety silv. Havent messed with this stuff in years. Here is the start. |

Mocked up the scale motor from Scale Design by Mr. Commad. Wont fit under the hood but love the way it looks on the chassis.

Finished up the cage over the weekend. Still needs to get cleaned up and painted but the fitment is good and ride height with the shock mount tabs is perfect. Fuel cell cap covers the low profile Tekin dig servo, radiator mount was added to the cage. Might tweak the position some but happy with the overall look. Ill add some styrene to the fuel cell cap to close it in a bit better on the sides. |

Got the cage cleaned up and painted. Installed the lower back half of the cab into the cage so I can close it up and still remove the main cab easily. Some interior work, front bumper, and body detail should finish it off for now. Looking forward to running this one again. |

I really like the profile of that cage, some nice work right there. How’s your gear mesh on the rear with the 3rd member and gears flipped upside down? |

| Re: Brandon's VS4-10 Rear Portal Yota Build No issues with the 3rd member yet. Im not too worried about it with the VP bearing retainers. Nothing is able to move with the design.

| Re: Brandon's VS4-10 Rear Portal Yota Build One of my all time favorite projects while working at axial was the honcho. I actually painted both bodies that were used on the box art for the honcho kit, otherwise the project was nearly complete in 2009 when I joined axial R&D. I would love to make a modern version of the honcho on a VS4-10 chassis. Really anything Toyota based I would be happy with. Ill have to take this cage design into CAD and see what happens. The axle is offset to the wrong side but thats easily ignored. |

I built both of my VS4-10 chassis with the intent to run ProLine Toyota SR5 HiLux front cabs and some sort of Honcho-esque rear cage. I've tried fitting the actual Honcho rear cage, and the fuel cell interferes with the lower cage rails. The other ProLine back half cage also doesn't fit well - I've tried that too. I even tried a GMade GOM cage. That one might fit, with some modifications, but I'd end up compromising the structural integrity. I would love to see a rear cage designed specifically for the VS4-10 to make a modern interpretation of a Honcho.

That is a good looking cage! It would be cool to see a modern version of the Honcho cage for the VS4-10. Hopefully that is something you can build in the future. |
