I have hated the 225 ever since the VF dig days! Those things just burn up so easy!

Hopefully this thing shifts smooth enough to not have to deal with that.

Is there a specific servo horn we should be on the lookout for?

I have a 7954sh, I should use that for the stearing servo, then take the stock stearing servo and use it for the shifting! I wonder if that would work?

Looks as if the mount is for a mini servo.

Yep, I was going to change mine to a standard size when I tore it down but a whole new mount would need to be made, I'm on the hunt for good mini instead.

I installed the stock steering servo as the shift servo, just had to make a mount to accommodate the wider standard size servo. I will take pics of the mount and installation to post up. I didn't want to suggest this mod until I've got some time using it and so far with about 3 hours of hard driving it has been working good with no issues at all.

Why did you replace the shift servo with the steering servo?

Because after I went for a boat ride all my electronics went belly up except for the steering servo and because dig/shift servo's are typically just strong enough to do the job they tend to burn up quick if the linkage gets bound up at all. I just wanted a more robust/reliable shift servo to keep me running battery after battery with no issues.

Here is how I did mine, only took maybe 5 mins.

I drilled a few extra holes to mount the plate (I'll try and make a PDF template for people to do this unless someone comes out with one soon).

I had to counter sink one screw so that when I screwed it into the existing transmission mount it didn't interfere with the servo.

Then I just threw the servo up there and mounted it with the two lower hole of the mounts. If you have some Axial servo posts for a full size servo you could replace those too, I don't see a big need for that right away.

Have you tested your setup yet? How does the linkage look alignment wise compared to stock? Curious if you get any binding like I did when my standard size servo was mounted further out then the stock servo causing the linkage to not be straight with the shift rod which in turn caused it to bind.

? damn I've had 2 for a couple years. I've never used them to run digs or shift transmissions though, only steering on Losi Mini's.

I guess I've been too easy on them...
