My question is:
What about us speed junkies who run putty in their front diffs?
Any chance for some little outputs to replace the factory output cups and
still run the factory diff with the splined shafts???

Gears have been mentioned, ill 2nd that..
As well as perhaps a larger pin for the axles...

Oh and I run an mmp and a murfdogg 17.5 on 4s.
I'm ready to break stuff..
We will be looking into both and may decide to come out with two different versions or just one. The engineers with definitely decide which is the better route to go. I believe a Twin Hammers should be showing up at our doors by tomorrow

How long does the process usually take? i.e. receiving the rig, r&d, proto, production to market?

Just curious.

Realistically a couple months. From a production standpoint in massive quantities its very time consuming

Production layout:
  • Engineer's design
  • Getting the design signed off
  • Tooling
  • Material
  • Writing code for the machines
  • Running each individual part that makes up the kit on the machines
  • Checking and Rechecking the parts for correct measurements (may have something off so have to go through the entire process again)
  • Getting parts heattreated (not done in house at MIP) (takes a couple weeks)
  • Get parts black oxcided (takes another week)
  • Test parts
  • If something is off or doesn't work out have to start the process all over again.
  • Packaging
  • Press Release
  • Website
  • Ready for market

I may have missed a couple steps hahahaha

Its a very time consuming and expensive process. And since we have many irons in the fire its just alot to deal with hahaha.

Hope this answers your question.

Here's a pic of my Front "Right" drive shaft with broken pin.

I've herd people have been braking the right pin, and mushrooming the drive cup's.

Was running a 35 turn with 3s, not stupid power.

Thanks MIP for putting out the top of the line drive shafts!
Wouldn't be going far with out them.

Tyler

Awesome!
Did some playing last night in the cave.
Was thinking a losi mini driveshaft would be perfect at the
corrected length, a 3mm output tho may just twist off..

So in my superior expert never wrong my opinion is all that matters
and the world is full of stupid people mind,

I'd LOVE to see a 5mm output on the stock diff run to a losi miniesque
female to a male to a cvd or cva assembly with larger diameter pins.

Perhaps a pair of rear straight axles with matching larger pins...

Thanks MIP!

Ya the cracking you can see on the treads is a sign of poor metal and treatment.

Its happening mannnnn . Eustace (owner of MIP) took home the truck tonight and is tearing her apart down to the last screw! He gave me the heads up that he will be really pushing to get this project through. Like I said a rear shaft will come out first and the others will follow.

If you guys can, please post pics of how the front shafts/front center shaft is wearing/breaking.

Matt,

Hardened gears: how difficult would it be to make a different set of
gears for the trans with a larger jump between the two?
It'd be nice to get the gears we were all expecting; a crawl low and a
speedy high...???
