Looks awesome, the final version just looks killer man. I can't wait to see it out there competing!

And everyone, I've seen this perform in person, it is flat out amazing, it'd take lines and obstacles that nobody could touch. (Even some VERY well built rigs on giant tracs)
took all the photos myself. thanks for the complements. got up and to the crawling spot before the sun was up this morning. Still got to work 1 1/2 hours late.

I just wonder what the big benefits are over, say, the V2 or CX?
You mentioned a few benefits but those few things don't really ever happen to my rig. Can you tell us why this chasis will be superior to the more mainstream designs?
There are several advantages to this design.

It weighs less, almost half the weight of the V2.

Setting up a rig is always a trade off between ride height and center of gravity. The lowest point in the center of the Extreme chassis is essentially the highest point, giving the Extreme the best ride-height to center-of-gravity ratio currently available, in my opinion. Also, the center ground clearance is high enough that you can climb over 90 degree edges and even undercuts!

The suspension geometry is a full rising rate design, which in my opinion, is much better then the falling rate design on other trucks (where the shock is mounted at an angle).

Wow, not what I was expecting. I agree with everyone else, we need pics with the body and electronics.

That suspinsion system is excelent-took me a few minutes to map out how it works in my head but I bet it works every bit aswell as a normal 4 shock set-up, if not better

Great design, have you thought about bending the links for even more clearance? ;)

actually, the link angle is rather steep and i have not had any problems with the links hitting. I don't think this design will benefit much from high clearance links. But it was a thought i had also.

p.s. your top secret photos are now de-classified. thanks for keeping them secret.

Very awsome!

Several years ago in the 1:1 world Jon Nelson came out with Tiny, dubbed a moonbuggy. It was an entirely different type of buggy with only 1 purpose, to win rockcrawling competitions.

I think you just stepped RC Crawling into the moon buggy era. No frills, just 100% competition ready!

No need for photoshop, just spent a few hours doing a cut and shut job. Just to get an idea :-P ;)

However if I understand what Kevin is saying, I don't think he'll be using an actual body, more of a silouette cut out and painted? Is that right Kevin?

Now this funny!!!! I just seen this post.....

I tried that exact same 5 link design when I was designing my "Project WTF" Project WTF... (7 links, no shocks, no chassis!) but I could not figure out how to mount the electronics so I seperated the main upper link into 2 links so I could create a flat area for the electronics. Also I couldn't get enough motor clearance on the lower link without bending it way out. the other one was with 14.4 Volts my upper link bar would flex around ALOT! do you have a picture with motors mounted and it flexed....... nice touch on adding the shocks to it. also I wanted to keep my electronics up high so this oregon water and mud wouldn't me as much of an issue.....

My first full assemblied attempt of WTF....

My current version of WTF....

As for my next version, I was thinking of going back to a single upper link design since I'm having problems with my current chassis inverting......

Well that wasn't my plan at all. I was trying to thinking outside the box...

I'm in NO way shape or form mad about others coming up / inproving / copying this type of design (thats human nature) but, as I have said before, just pass credit where credit is due...... (if it works or fails).

So, Should I tell you guys the major potential flaw that I've seen with this design is (well on mine 'WTF' atleast) and I think this design also probably has it also...

BTW - I have been asked several times now what people should call this design and I think you guys can just call it

The "MissingLink" Design because its missing the traditional links and its a new type of crawler just like the theorys of evolution from apes to walking biped humaniods.....

Ummmmm, it doesn't have suspension. It has a system to control articulation but no suspension.

Spy photos leaked out of Kevin's "stick" chassis a long time ago, he has been werking on this design for quite a while.

And my comment was in no way meant to be offensiveto either of you, I was just kidding. I am curious about these designs, the pics made me tear apart my chassis to do some thinking.

I'd like to hear, but I think Kevin's design is different than yours.
