Not my problem???

Yea, if he's saying it was right, and you have proof that it wasn't, which in the pic it clearly isn't, then he rewired and more than likely screwed something over on it through no fault of yours. This whole situation just seems really sketchy....

Looking back over some old PM's from him he states that he has 2 5000mah lipos. One is a reedy and the other is a venom. The venom would not fit in the car unless its a bullet pack battery, and the reedy would also not fit unless it was a bullet connector pack. Things are getting a little more sketchy now.....

The way the JRXS chassis is set up is for a bullet pack lipo. If he had packs that were direct wired, both the positive and negative battery wires would have be located on either the left or right side of the pack. There is no way for the wires to fit through the wire openings unless he took out a dremel and cut a large slot in the chassis top plate which would ruin the chassis.

So he has to have bullet connector packs. IF he rewired the connector with bullet connectors, he likely crossed polarity or ruined the board when soldering the connectors on. Or if he didn't rewire the plug, he would have had to use an adapter like I did.

I really hope he sends me some pics and clears things up. I really want to make things right on my end to clear my conscience but if he is unwilling to respond, I'm just not sure what to do.

I asked him if he had the polarity correct and he said Yes. But If he didn't rewire it, I would think he was lying. This is where things get a little weird for me. He won't tell me whether or not he did anything to the connector yet he says that polarity was right which I know for a fact that it would not be unless he rewired it.

I'm gonna fire a couple questions at him and see if he is willing to cooperate with some photos or at least let me know if he rewired it.

He might not be as capable as you, and this may all be a bit confusing for him. Aren't venom lipos comparatively expensive while being an off brand? Am I crazy? Do you have venom lipos?

Well with this getting sketchier each message as you say, and that he just won't answer a few simple questions I personally don't see how it's your problem. If he can prove that he didn't do anything then of course, help him out. But until then I'd just sit back and relax and see what happens. The fact that you're worried about it at all and want to make it right says alot about you as an individual already "thumbsup" I'd buy from you anytime "thumbsup"

I don't know much about venom lipos as I don't own any. I've only ran Orion packs and and Gens Ace packs in my cars with bullet connectors.

Direct wire batteries unless they have one wire coming out of the left and right corners will not fit.

The two packs pictured below would fit in the car due to the wire configuration.

These three batteries with this wire configuration will NOT fit in this car. So it kinda limits what battery he can run.

Thanks man, I really appreciate that."thumbsup"

I just want to make sure I'm not getting screwed at the expense of someone elses mistake, But at the same time, I just want both of us to be happy with everything when its all said and done.

No problem man, it's true. If he doesn't want to cooperate on something so simple though I'd let him go. You've already done more than enough.

i think its kind of bth of your faults. you didnt check and neither did he. but, i think mainly it is the guy you bought it from's fault for being a tard and not doing it right."thumbsup"

I never saw a, "If wiring up a Deans plug, this is industry standard for polarity.......!!"

Since I don't normally do Deans plugs, I would LOVE a standard so I know better down the road..........8)

:shock::roll:

Yes, I'm a PITA.....no, I've never seen a standard.:flipoff:

I use Anderson PowerPoles/Sermos (or Cermos) and they are color coded....thus I use the colors.......8);-)

when wiring electricity there is a standard way of doing things.

True....show me the standard for Deans plugs.;-)8)

For 110vac, "Black to brass, white to nickel, green to copper", etc.

For DC, "Red [DC positive] to red, black [DC negative] to black".:roll:

How is it his fault? He DID check it. He had an adapter that he used which made it correct and had forgotten to mention it, which he clearly states. Read the whole thread next time ;-)

I've wired deans plugs both ways before....Charlie is right, with deans there is no correct way technically. There is the implied standard with how they come on batteries but that doesn't mean they have to be like that.

Well, the guy has been online twice PMing someone else from what I can see and still has not responded to my last pm.

I think that I'm probably going to let it be for now and if he responds to my PM, then I'll offer him my other GTB. Otherwise I'm not going to worry about it anymore. I'm willing to make it right if he is willing to give me some more info, but if he is not willing truthfully answer my questions, I really don't think that I should be obligated to help him out.
He may be realizing that it was his fault and is being nice enough to man up to his own mistake and let it be, but at the same time, it really is a 50/50 type of thing and I am willing to help him out.

Who knows what may come of this, but for now, the ball is in his court.

I'd say, just IMO, the Deans packaging sets the "Standard". It's right there in print. Do you have to wire it that way?? No, but why would you not??

If it were me, I'd PP him 25.00, clean my hands of it and be done.

...show me the standard for Deans plugs.

They're labeled for positive and negative. You can see a + sign all the way to the left and a - sign above the solder tab on the right, where the 6.3 mm is.
