Just got back from my local hobby shop with a reserve on a WR8 Flux!
I asked if they knew anything about the WR8 and the guy said he just made an order with HPI (or distributor) for them. He said their price should be around $485.00. And they should arrive sometime next week! However, he was talking about the Ken Block edition, which I thought won't be available until September or later. I guess we'll see what happens though. "thumbsup"

I'm in... with tower membership, $50 off & free shipping. had to order the Block version. I almost bought in on the 1/16 Traxxas version a long time ago, glad I didn't now. Looked at what it would cost to convert a Slash to rally set up. unless I had a slash sitting around it cost more than $450 with shipping. It might be worth it for the coolness factor but after discussions w/ Rodney the slash would be a lot of fun but limited as far as tune ability. I also thought about the Kyosho DRX but seem like the HPI parts availability would be better.

Slash roller $160-$300
conversion kit $65-$90
Body $60-$145
wheels tires $40-$60
Servo $35-$65
Radio Receiver $30-$150

$350-$810 Slash rally conversion

I'm a Big Dodge fan, not to sure about the new Dart body. if they made an 1/8 scale body i would probably have to get one

Id be in for a Travis Pastrana edition over the ken block one.

I was just inform from a very good source that the Wr8 comes with the Bullet drive train. KInda weak.

No not junk. I just was hoping for the one that in your C1. Pure Beef

Welllllllll apples to apples weak = junk ;-)

I am saying WR8 vs DRX apples to apples

DRX $400

WR8 $480

$80 more gets you

Aluminum shock towers $60 I believe Turtle said the Alum Shock Towers aren't necessary
Sway bars $easy $30
Castle Electronics The DRX is Brushless. Not CC but, not brushed

That's how I feel it make it worth the larger price.

Plus the Lager size of the DRX is much more appealing.

P.S. Badger, your so right... :badger:

Sorry im not just another block fan boy.

Thats life.

Its not about being a fan boy. It is about having respect for someone that has created an American rally scene. Pastrana, Deegan, Lasek and whoever else in America would not be driving rally cars if it was not for Blocks push to the American main stream.

Block is a good driver, but everyone knows it is about his promotional abilities that have made these vehicles available to the U.S. public.

Love him or hate him it is all because of him.

In his 3 WRC outing this season he finished 9th (out of 19) in Mexico and 9th (out of 35) In New Zealand, he just had a DQ in Finland this last weekend because of a broken A arm over a 2 foot jumping crest. He was sitting in 10th (out of 53) before the break.

I was looking at some pic's does anyone own the nitro? I would love to see the size compared to say a slash or the DRX?

block has done a lot to bring rally to the stage in the u.s. no one can truly argue that. i'm not a block fan, but i do respect him and his actions with rally racing. i think that the licensing things that he's done with r/c companies has also had a major affect on the r/c scale rally market.

the reason i wouldn't buy a block edition car is simple, i don't want other people's sponsors and look on my car. its the same with many rtr rally cars minus the kyosho drx ve. the abu dhabi fiesta, the block editions, the list will grow. i may not be the best painter in the world, but i want my own thing going on on my car. i also don't want to have to buy a new body as soon as i get the car to get rid of the sponsorship stuff. the drx ve has a simple kyosho shell (at least the version i was looking at), and tamiya ships a lot of kits bare. the drx ve shell just says that its a kyosho car...that's great, they make a solid car, and rolling with their logo on the car doesn't bug me. tamiya bare kits allow the end user to do their own paint, which is also great.

its a personal thing for me, but i'm sure there are many that think the same way. sure i could use the factory body as a beater while waiting on mine, but that still means buying and painting a new body on top of the cost of the vehicle. the thing that i have loved since the rally threads have popped up is that while the chassis and body shell may be the same, the paint has reflected the driver's preferances. turtle's splatter effect, tc4crawler's killer reproduction of the puma subarus, it sets the car apart, and that is a good thing.
