1929 Ford Coupe Hot Rod

Cool so far. But, why does everyone stop when the car they are building is 75% there. Smooth it up and put some paint on it. I am not saying a 20 color job with flames, skulls and pinstripes. Just get it in paint. The rusty POS look is just not all that anymore.
Because on rat's like that it's not about the paint job. It's about what it represents. To most guys, not all, it would be like taking one the first rifles made and re-bluing
it, putting a new stock on it, ect.... instead of helping the gun you devalued it. But it's not about value with that kind of build, it's a life style, who you are, America, blood-sweat-tears, making something out of nothing! It's like looking at that 90 year old guy and saying "Man, I bet he has some stories!"

very well said

Rats don't always need paint and all. Seen some at a show in Tennessee, Grand Fall Rod Run & Spring Rod Run, that look bad ass just looking like that with a little bit of pin stripping. It gives the car character and how the owner wants it. Seen some wild creations, and I love the look of them like this. Always something new being created from the minds of the owners.

Clean it up and flat black it. The rat rod thing is getting played out. I love the traditional look you got going there.

Is that an old metal-flake Superior steering wheel under the tape?

btw, flatheads were built up to 1989 under license by/for the Belgian military. Kind of a mish-mash of parts but they're relatively fresh parts.

Did you read or just look at the pretty pictures?

It's getting paint only in hopes people will refer to it as a "rat rod" less often.

Good move putting flathead in there. A SBC only belongs in a GM vehicle.

If you ever decide to do another give me a call and haul it down south.
I have been dieing to do another build like that for someone.

That's looking pretty sweet! My paps has a 30' coupe that's chopped and dropped(not near as far as yours) but his has a blown sbc in it, ill have to post up a pic for ya

I agree Stu, to me a rat rod is a slapped together unsafe death trap.

Steering wheel is a mooneyes with walnut around it

Kick ass!
I've been trying to find myself a body like that, either an A or a T to build up. My buddy just bought a 38 ford pickup rat rod, yes rat rod, it's super sketchy!!!! So I've been teaching and helping him with all the fab and mechanical stuff, I just need my own now.

looks awsome"thumbsup"

here is one of my good friends that he built from ground up.
it even had about 10-15 bullet holes and another 8-10 shot gun blasts when he pulled it out of the desert.

he going to pull out that motor and put a flat head in it so he can cruise it around.this motors to radical for screwing off so it makes it not even fun to drive.

If you ask me, flat black is played out, too :?

I can't argue with that, but I've always had a thing for it.

Yeah I think there's such a thing as too much motor for these cars. Being stock, my brakes will be able to actually stop the car for instance.

So who did the work? If I would have known you were looking I could have suggested a couple builders in the area.

Broken Light Customs in Colorado just outside Denver.

Wow it's great in a old school way I like it and look forward to seeing the next progress update. Will you have it finished for upcoming hot] rod season?

What's hot rod season? This thing will be driven all year.
