4PK Setups, Tips, Tricks and Help

Alright So I"m running a Berg with

2x Tekin rs pro
2x JP warrior r/t
JR 8711
Thunder Power 1350 3cell

And my problem is when I use the dig I find it doesn't hold thetires very well. The rear tires seem to roll way to easily. Yes the drag brake is set to max. Is there anything in the radio settings I can change to get a better drag brake?

Not really, the problem is within your ESC's. I have no experience with the Tekin RS ESC's so I am not sure how they usually compare to the FXR's. The one thing I would suggest is reprogramming your throttle position on both ESC's but make sure you do it at the exact same time.

Great info in this thread. I got a 4PK a while ago and was still using the dig from punk. Now I have 2 fxr's on the way. I think I have a good understanding on how to hook it up correctly. I'm still have a few questions. What is the min wire guage? What is the best way to hook up the battery to both esc and the bec? Does anyone have some good detailed pics of there wiring setup? I'm working with very little space and don't want to do it twice. Just looking for some good ideas to save space while hooking it up.

Thanks for the help

Chris

Minimum wire gauge? I've been using some 16 with great results (3S and 35T Blitzes). Smaller wire is a little more brittle, so keep that in mind. Also if you use Deans Ultra connectors, 16GA is a little small for that.

As far as wiring, solder two wires to each the "+" and "-" of the plug from the battery. One wire goes to ESC 1, the other to ESC 2. You do not want one ESC creating a voltage drop to the other.

For the BEC, I solder one wire to one ESC, the other wire to the other ESC. Or you could come off the battery plug, but that gets kind of tricky if you already have 2 wires per terminal on the plug.

Well this isn't something that can really be controlled by the radio. You can try and bandaid it with expo but thats about it. Have you tuned your motors lately? Turn down the deadband for each ESC?

What setting would you suggest for the dead band on the tekin fx-r?

I have a voltage question. I just got the CastleLink. My combination is:

4PK and receiver
2 x Tekin FX-R
CCBEC
Futaba S9157 Servo
3S Lipos

What can I boost my voltage to? I remember reading 7.4 volts. But I can't find it to verify.

I am wired per Harleys Ultimate MOA setup.

The RX can handle the 7.2v but I do not suggest running more than 6v with your servo. The 9157 doesn't need more voltage than that.

@Harley0706

First sorry for my English.... is not my mother language

This thread is amazing and helps me a lot.... still got a few problems.

I've got a new Berg tracer with following items:

- 2x Tekin FXR
- 2x CKRC Twister motor 45T
- Lipo 3s1p
- Futaba 4pk
- Pinion 12T front/rear

I wired all as shown in this thread.. so far everything is ok.

1. problem.

I have programmed my tx as described and can't figure out why on your 4pk display the servo bar for the 3ch and 4ch move in the same direction (right). I have to REV the 4ch, otherwise the front axle turns forward and the rear axle turns backwards ?!? Ok, it is not realy a problem because it works but I would like to know why.

2. problem.... big problem.

My drag brake is too weak, at a hill my cralwer doesn't stop, it moves backwards. I set up the FXR over the Hotwire (PC). Drag brake value 100.
I programmed the end points (esc) several times. I don't think the motor (twister) is the problem, they should be strong enough.
Could you please give me your Hotwire setup.

Thanks
Oli

Did you reverse the wire on one of your motors? I am guessing this is your problem.

Try increasing the deadband on the FXR's with your hotwire. They may not be finding nuetral and allowing them to roll slightly. That would be my first guess. I usually have to turn my drag break down to 80% on my FXR's or it's too much brake.

Let me know how that goes and get back to me.

i am a total 4pk noob and i got it all figured out to set it up for my rig (ax-10 with vp dig)
i am using the dt3 switch for dig and the ps2 switch for instant dig with lock
i was wondering if on the dt3 3 pos switch if i could assign each button to a certain point
like the middle for 4wd the bottom for free wheel and etc?
