4PK Setups, Tips, Tricks and Help

i am a total 4pk noob and i got it all figured out to set it up for my rig (ax-10 with vp dig)
i am using the dt3 switch for dig and the ps2 switch for instant dig with lock
i was wondering if on the dt3 3 pos switch if i could assign each button to a certain point
like the middle for 4wd the bottom for free wheel and etc?

I am not 100% I get what you are asking. What do you mean assign each button of DT3 to a certain point? Are you talking about the 2 other little buttons right by the DT3 toggle? Those little pieces are actually attached to the center toggle if that is what you are asking. :?

sorry trying to be clear as i can lol
you know how the dt3 switch has its 3 buttons
right now i have it set as 3 position for 4wd freewheel and dig
i was wondering if you can make the center taller button be assigned to a certain point(4wd) and the other two shorter ones be for freewheel and dig
sorry if im still not clear im only 13 :)

Thats what I thought you were asking. All three of those buttons are actually ATTACHED inside. So no you can't program them separately.

thanks for the quick replies
thanks "thumbsup"

Sheesh Nick! You could have just called me for help. Now your asking Harley for help :-(

JK bud, but if you do need any more help feel free to call me. I will admit though, Harley has this stuff figured out

i am going to be setting up my moa losi with the 4pk and dual fxr's , this thread will sure make it easy to setup thanks.

Did you reverse the wire on one of your motors? I am guessing this is your problem.

Try increasing the deadband on the FXR's with your hotwire. They may not be finding nuetral and allowing them to roll slightly. That would be my first guess. I usually have to turn my drag break down to 80% on my FXR's or it's too much brake.

Let me know how that goes and get back to me.

So, i tried everthing an stll got the problem with the weak drag brake

I ordered now new motors, Fantom Blitz 45T.

Question:

1. When you program the end points, what setup has your th channel, 3ch and 4ch on the 4pk (normal, REV or mixed)?

2. What motors and pinion are you using?

3. Should I program the FXR back to the default setup before I program the endpoints?

Sorry, lots of questions I know..... but in a month the Swiss Comps season begins and my Berg rolls back

Thanks Oli

Answered in orange below. If you have questions feel free to ask.

You should have the 3rd and 4th channels mixed with channel 2 while programming the throttle position. You shouldn't be adjusting end points, they should be at 100% for all 3 channels.

2. What motors and pinion are you using?

I use Holmes Hobbies 35t Handwound Torquemaster motors in all my rigs.

3. Should I program the FXR back to the default setup before I program the endpoints?

As long as both ESC's are programmed identically and you indeed do have the settings correct you shouldn't need to revert to the default settings.

Hey Harley0706,

Great info in your postings. Thanks for taking the time to share. Question: If PS1 and PS2 are set for mixing, how on earth do you operate the timer (4PK)?

I'm stumped.

Cheers,

I don't run the timer on mine any longer but you may try PS3 (up on top). I am not sure if it will work though since it is not a momentary switch like the other 2. :?

You can actuate a timer by pulling the trigger. I don't have a manual in front of me, but that is what I used to do when I raced electric off-road.

Harley, I got my 3pm today and right now I do not have a dig. I hope this question has not been asked and I just missed it. I have a delay when I pull the trigger going from reverse to forward. Reverse has not delay. I want the truck to go as soon as I pull the trigger. How do I do this?

You may be looking for my 3PM thread not this 4PK thread ;-)

However it sounds like your problem is actually in your ESC and not in your radio. Give me some specs on your rig.

You are basically just setting a typical 3 postition switch. You can use any of the setups for mechanical dig, VF/DNA, R2, Losi, etc.

Go to the Dial menu
Set DT1 (or DT2 or DT3) to read Ch 3: 100 / Nor
That will setup your switches as 3 position switch

Let me know if you need more help "thumbsup"

and BTW, you should ditch the punk and get another ESC!

well i havn't been able to get dual esc's to work for me well. haven't been able to figure out how to do a true rear dig like you can do with the front.

so since i had forgot i had a spare punk dig running around so i thought i would try it but cant get it to work on any 3pos switch. all switchs are set a 100% and they still dont work. also since i just opened the dig i noticed that its the new 2+ version in which im not quite sure how to set it up.

also can you assign more than one model to the same reciever?

With a super you just have to do dig with the steering wheel. It is a little awkward.

You can assign as many models as you want. The RX's are not associated with the model.

so with a punk dig its still the same as dual esc's then? thats the best setup with dual esc's that i found but like you said its still awkward. may as well go back to dual esc's then if thats the case.

Oh I got ya, sorry I thought you were just refering to the dual ESC's with rear dig. I just went and reread your post and now I understand

You should definitely be able to get both front and rear dig with the punk on your super setup. Is the display showing the graph go the other way when you hit rear dig on the controller?
