4PK Setups, Tips, Tricks and Help

Getting a lot closer. Changed the 4PK to reverse the throttle. Then rewired both motors. Then swapped the ESC placement in the receiver. Now everything is working correctly except I liked the front wheel on the button in the handle (PS2) and the rear on PS1. Now if I can figure out that while the battery is charging again.

Got PS1 and PS2 swapped.

Will the 604 handle the 7.4 volts required to run my hitec 7950?? All I can find for receiver input requirements is 6V nicad.

I just picked up one of these radios and even though I don't have a truck to drive with it I have been playing with the mixes some. Since I plan on a dual esc MOA is there any way to control the two ESC's to allow you turn a dial so you can increase front throttle (CH3) while equally decreasing the rear (CH4) or vice versa? Essentially a front/rear bias instead of just decreasing the rear as you do with your current 2.2MOA setup. I was thinking mix CH3 esc off CH2, then invert mix CH4 off CH3, but everything I have tried with slaving the rear to the front just results in no rear at all.

Any insight?

There really isn't a point to adjusting both mixes. Increasing the front to more than 100 isn't going to benefit you any, it will only decrease the amount of throttle feel. Once you get it setup and drive it you will see that there is really no benefit.

I have the dial/wheels on the handle (also the dials around the wheel) set to increase/decrease the mix percent on each esc. The top one does the front and the lower on does the rear. I've found it useful to turn the front down on some technical climbs. I don't think there is any way to change both mixes with one dial.

Overpowering the rear would give the same results, unless you are looking for more than 20% difference. I just haven't found situtations where that would be needed.

There is no way to program one button to do two fucntions, that is correct.

That is why I was wondering about mixing ch2 to 3 and then 3 to 4. Adjusting 3 would then effect 4 as well? :?:

Hey Harley, just wanted to thank you for the great information "thumbsup" Detailed, well organized and accurate... can we possibly ask for anything more? In all honesty, I picked up a 4pk and would have struggled for a while without this post... just goes to show how much of a service you are doing for guys like me.

Great work "thumbsup"
Mike

Well I run the front and rear at 120% so I don't have to worry about finding 100% for full and just turn down either the front or rear when needed. It's easier to go back to 120% than 100%. Plus I know I get full power when I need it.

Glad it helped, hope you dig the radio 8)

I have ran a similar setup before, just have found that having the adjustment on both mixes takes the few extra seconds when on course that I am not willing to give up. Also if you calibrate your ESC's regularly than running at 120% just takes away from the finite throttle control, why do you run it that way out of curiosity?

I am curious also. All that running everything @ 120 does is make the throttle come in quicker and not as precise.
I run mine at 100 front and rear and only go to 120 in the rear to help load the rear because it applies more throttle sooner but it does not give any more at WOT.

Really 120% I only use to load the rear as well. I like driving with my rear set to 80%. You can turn so much sharper:twisted:

too much punch

hey guys, I have had a problem with my 4pk since going back to dual esc. It takes a 1/4 in of throttle from neutral to get anything moving and it takes off like a rocket? I have calibrated the esc's several times and monkeyed with the tekin programming. nothing changes. your expertise needed.

Well this isn't something that can really be controlled by the radio. You can try and bandaid it with expo but thats about it. Have you tuned your motors lately? Turn down the deadband for each ESC?

Simply to not to have to look down and monkey with finding 100%. Just spin the dial forward and I know it's 120. The little throttle control lost isn't really a big deal to me. Turning down the front does the same as turning up the rear. Now that I think about if I calibrate the esc a 120 wouldn't that give more throttle control?? 120 points instead of 100?
