4PK Setups, Tips, Tricks and Help

Yeah, I'm thining the ESC and we always pull the middle, red or orange. It's one on the inside of the receiver or white. Sorry for any misinformation.

Now that I think back and you say that you have to pause before you can drive, I think you may have the throttle mode set incorrectly.

The BEC signal wire is yellow.

What would be the correct throttle mode setting? I checked in the TH-SPEED menu and it shows this:

MODE : 1 SPEED (OFF)
ALL : 100

The problem you are having is in the ESC's not in the radio. You need to make sure the throttle mode is correct in the FXR's.
It works finally!! set the "brake/reverse type" on the FXRs to LED 2. And no more having to pause for a couple seconds to go in reverse. I'm such a noob. Thanks Harley"thumbsup"

ok harley, I need help.

I bought a moa rig used for a great deal. came with a 4pk that the previous owner "programed".....:afro: well i reset the 4pk and set everything to your specs. its working great!!!

now here is where im having problems. the escs are not putting out even power at slow speeds.

going up hill the front pulls way harder than the rear. almost like the bias is on but it reads 100%

but at wot it will stand on the rear axle tons of power.. could it be the motors?

or should I buy the cable to set the fxr's with the computer?

Sounds like you just need to recalibrate the throttle. Hold MODE down on both FXR's at the same time until it goes into programming mode. Then do the full throttle-neutral-reverse programming and see what that does.

Sorry, but I have been having this as well with mine, my dad's, and a couple of the other locals. I know I have done that when I had my 4PK, now I have the 4PKS, and my dad has the 3PK with a couple others running the 4PK as well. That hasn't seemed to help us out. Maybe it's an issue for Tekin in our case.

There isnt anything Tekin will be able to do for you. You will just have to make sure your gear mesh is the same, your motors are in good shape, no binding in your gear train, and your solder joints are clean. Bad wiring can have a huge effect of that.

Interesting note, apparently some of the newer 4PKS's are coming with
the newer software updates installed. Stupid me, I didn't even check,
I sent my new radio in the day I got it to Hobby Services. The tech notes
stated that it already had the 4PK Servo View, and they sent it back with
a copy of the manual page of how to get to it...
Just a heads up to save some of you guys some time... Check it first!

Also, P-MIX1 and P-MIX2 are not separate lines in the Menu any more.
There is a P-MIX, and once you go in there you can use the +- buttons
to select PROG MIX 1 or PROG MIX 2, whichever one you want to adjust...

Harley, only one thing I can not seem to figure out. When I engage dig it replaces the proportional on the display and the proportional does not come back to dispay unless I power cycle. It still functions ans shows function on the servo view side. Radio is a pks

Other than that, thanks for the video, it makes it all very easy!

edit: reading the bbeaty workaround now.

edit x2: bbeaty workaround worked and easy for a dummy like me to figure out!

Thanks to everyone who has added great info to this thread.

I'v gone through Harley's videos many times, and I'v known 4PK/4PKS could drive front 100/rear 0-100 and front 0/rear 100. But there is still a question here for me a noob. Whether 4PK/4PKS could have front wheels proportional while the rear is 100, such as front 60, 80 or any from 0 to 100 and rear is 100? Thanks."thumbsup"

Yes it can, completely worthless in 99.99999999999999999999999% of the situations your truck gets into though.

Thanks Whoodie!! And the following is where or whether I can find a terrain/situation guide regarding the frong/rear proportional control, as you mentioned?:lmao:

Something odd has happened. When I cycle the proportional now the percentage changes, but the bar on the servo view no longer reflects it. I went back through all the settings to verify them and also checked sub trims were zero'ed out.

Should I set to defaults and reprogram or is there something else I am missing?

Nothing changed from working to not working, or displaying at least, I do not have everything soldered up on the rig to put power through the system yet.
