What did you do to/with your Ascender today

I've done that a few times too, I've started to copy my posts as I make really long ones as a sort of save function.

I'm curious what the FCP skid is doing (its hard to find on their facebook page), is it raising the tranny or what?
And I assume from the body mounts it a blazer, is that right?

Hey Casey, the skid that Fish builds gives you more ground clearance, it is almost flush with the bottom of the chassis. Keeps the tranny at almost the same height as stock. I just ordered my third one. (My last one is on Andrews truck)."thumbsup"

Hey Thanks "thumbsup" does anyone know if the Fish's Crawler parts skid is sold any other place besides facebook?

Didn’t think I needed to do a separate thread since this one seems to get the most action but does anybody know if they are coming out with a new Ascender anytime soon. I love mine but i would definitely buy a new one if they do. Stock the Ascender platform is awesome but with a couple little changes they could come out with something that would be hard to beat.

At Pro-line by the fire we were expecting to possibly hear something about a new Ascender but they did not reveal anything. I believe Natedog talked with Rich who said they may release a revised shock or parts to add the upper stopper see this thread for more

Yeah Iv done both the outboarding rear shocks and the shock mod but it would be nice to see an updated version. Maybe they decided if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

Here 's a email Casey. "thumbsup"

Looks good but would be better with metal panhard mount flipped around to place frame mounted end outside the frame rails.

Yep, not sure what I was thinking. I will fix it today. Thanks for the input Nate! "thumbsup"

I was going to copy your design and use a twinhammers up right but of course I can't find one. I had like 3 pairs. I really like that idea. Should be sturdy!

No pics...just a story.

My first kit build was an Ascender K5 Blazer some years ago now that I built for my crazy redneck GF. Good choice, of course, as that poor rig is now on its third body and has suffered immeasurably in the hands of a devil-may-care adventurous female as she learned how to drive. If you've watched any of my YouTube videos you've seen one of her more epic disasters.

Anyway...one of our favorite trails passes under a highway bridge along the river. The steep, dusty bank from the trail to the underside of the bridge has been her personal metric for measuring her skills and the abilities of her truck as I've upgraded and tweaked it.

This past weekend she finally made it all the way to the top of the bank just under the highway, and then made two fatal errors in judgement:

1. She tried to turn around
2. She stopped mid-turn

Proving that gravity and physics do in fact still function properly, her nauseating pink truck took the tumble of its life, sickeningly accelerating to something near terminal velocity with brief flashes of newly free parts on the way down.

Top it off with her miscalculating its vector as it bounced past her, across the trail and straight into, and to the bottom of, said river. To her credit, shoes and socks went flying without hesitation as she went into the river after her beloved Ascender.

Here's the good part...after all that carnage, and her fishing it back to terra firma, it had a broken rear lower link. That's it. I pulled it off so it wouldn't drag and she drove it back to the car. Replaced the link last night, and you'd never know anything had happened to it.

Try THAT with an Axial! "thumbsup"

Installed some Bowhouse RC knuckles. Is it just me or do these things slightly impede turning radius? And my tie rod now hits my pumpkin...seems a lot to give up for double sheer knuckles, considering I have yet to brake a stock plastic knuckle.

I spent some time in the shop turning up some rear spring stops and some brass spring cups.

Then I played on Solidworks.

Ernie those dravtech shocks look awesome on there, and the evolution of the panhard is looking GREAT! that third link mount/truss is very unique and instantly makes you say "WHOA something going on there!" "thumbsup"

I built one and am planning on building another but I sandwich 2 motor plates together with spacers and spin the motor to the front. I built one like that on my old blazer. I have another project in the works that uses a hardbody so I plan on making another one. It's simple to make.
