So I got this motor from someone and it runs great but he and I don't have a clue as to what it is lol
Specs? It says colbalt on the can, epic on the bell and can, the strangest is the brushes are oval????
Have no clue how good or bad it is? Maybe Eddie or someone can chime in

It's a good motor. Alum endbell, standard trinity springs and fb9 magnets. EddieO has brushes for it as well as stiffer springs. Stick one of his 35t HHK arms in it and you got a pretty sweet scaler motor.

Did it come in 35 or 45t? Because the guy had it in his moa and he said it was 35t but the eBay is saying 19t
Edit forgot to ask but is it better than a integy motor? Never heard of trinity, mind you I only know crawler motors though lol(axial,hh,brood,integy)

check the arm, looks like you have had it apart why not check it then?

also the guy that posted the eBay link said it comes in "many turns" he was just showing you what it was. we cant tell how many turns it is based off of pics of a grubby ass can.

I'd venture a strong guess that those didnt come in higher winds, but someone could of changed the arm. Post some pics of it.

Lol ya the end bell is an extra though the guy gave me it because he figured the brushes being so weird, it would be kinda hard getting more. I'll try and see if they came in 35 or 45, I'm just curious about the power comparison to a integy motor

When I get home i take it apart and takes some pics. Still a strange motor to me lol only heard of stand up and lay down brushes but oval? Lol

99% sure they stopped making those before crawler winds were being made.

I'm currently running a slightly used Team Trinity Epic 55t in my 2 speed scx10... it runs strong but starts to overheat if I keep on the throttle in 2nd. It runs great in first gear... way stronger than the 45t Intigy I was running before.

That motor is better than an integy by far.......better can, better magnets, better endbell. Only downside is the brushes are not easy to find.

Slap a new armature in it and some new brushes/springs....will have a nice scaler motor.

I have some of these around still I plan on using for a Limited Edition.

And Trinity is one of the largest RC companies out there....they have been in the game since the early 80s........Numerous national and world titles to their name.......also one of the biggest advertisers in RC magazines.

Its a very good teardown.....they were not available with stock motor arms. It's likely a 7-15t arm if it the original armature....

The theory on the roundish brushes (checkpoint, v2, etc) was that as the leading edge made contact with the next segment of the comm, the initial contact was less, so denotation on the comm slots was less.....less comm wear over a 5 minute race.....means more runtime and less fade....faster car. Often you could run hotter winds with the round brushes though because of the reduced wear.

That's a different motor...the Shock.

The Shock was the first motor with that endbell. They had a couple diffferent brush styles available, but not the oval. p94, standup and the hex brushes (yes, I have all these too).

The anodizing on the shock was kinda weird too.....same magnets though, similar can.

I have a pair of checkpoints that use "round" brushes with an anti rotation ridge on them.
Good motors until one developed a "stall". Need to get a matched set of good armatures for them.:roll:

I use nothing but Checkpoint cans. Most all are the alum endbells versions although I do have a couple of the 19T Money Checkpoint cans with the plastic endbells. I pick 'em up from other forums fairly cheap and stuff 'em with HH handwound armatures.

The brush life is phenomenal with the Checkpoint's round brushes.

Yeah, yeah...I know.....busy with a bazillion other things. I really want new arms for these cans though. One of the next things on my list....sigh.....

Since we're at it.....suggestions for arm style for a ~35T (Checkpoint cans) used in a 2.2 MOA with dual ESC's & 3S LiPO?? Could help me order sooner.....just saying.....
