I drag race a Dodge Magnum. Nothing better than surprising sports cars with a wagon. LOL

I have, it ran a best of 13.30 at 107mph.

The last time I went to the track, I ripped the frame at the lower control arm bracket grabbing 2nd. The bracket rotated almost 90* and as a result, I blew the rear u-joint and damaged the trans. Alot of fun but cost me some coin.

That's a nice ET, especially for a stick car! What does she weigh? Gotta be heavy. My Magnum weighs 4500# best we've gotten out of her so far is a 10.21 @ 134.

Looking forward to seeing how it comes along. Really sweet cruiser you've got. I'm digging it.

Thanks, it weighs 4700lbs without me in it. Not the fastest but it was built to be driven. It was my daily driver for many years. I drove it many times on trips longer than 250 miles. Been to Bend and Portland Oregon several times to visit family, Reno and Las Vegas Nevada several times, countless trips to the Sierras to go snowboarding (yes, in the snow) and all over Northern CA. I've put over 60,000 miles on this motor since I built it. It's getting tired but still runs strong. The 383 was supposed to replace it but now leaning toads an LS.

Didn't realize a Dodge Magnum weighed that much, 10's in anything is fast let alone a 4500lb wagon. Nice!

Swapping in a built LS would be killer. Old school style and modern power... Doesn't get much better than that.

Really glad to hear that you drive it. That's what cars are for. My wagon is still street "legal-ish" and gets driven on the street, though honestly it's a lot to handle even detuned with the slow pulley on it. (It's a 392 stroker with a 3.6 Kenne Bell blower).

What rear end is in the car? If you bump up the power with an LS swap will the rest of the driveline be up to it?

If you do the swap, you gotta document it here so we can keep up with it. That wagon with big power under the hood... Drool.

Drivetrain is good, 1350 u-joints in an Inland Empire drives haft and 35 spline Moser 9". The weak point now is the lower control arm mounts at the frame. I was contemplating truck arm rear suspension but that's getting to the point of no return.

That's a stout setup! I'm also running a 9". Love that rear. I hear ya on the point of no return... I'm very close to it. LOL

Some more progress has finally been made on the wagon over the last few weeks. I installed the MSD box, TKO-600, got the floor back together, reinstalled the front bench and carpet. Got her running pretty good. I was able to find a Canadian Frame in Richmond, CA for a fair price so going to get that going when I can.

Maybe I'm getting old but have been really tired of how rich this thing runs at idle. The race demon has served me well but I decided to get a self learning EFI setup for this engine to help with the rich idle and improve drivability. I went with the Fitech 600hp and command center.

Made a bracket to mount the command center to the frame.


Added this support to reduce vibration to nearly zero.


These units install so easy it's ridiculous.





I'm going to install 3.73's in the very near future and contemplating ditching the Detroit for a posi of some sorts. Also need to get some A/C installed at some point.

I contemplated EFI for the longest when I knew I hd to replace the carb on my 66. Ultimately I decided I needed to learn to tune a carb and there was only one way that was going to happen

I hear ya on wanting to learn how to tune a carb, good to know for sure. I've messed with them for too long . You can't beat EFI for drivability, compensating for altitude, cold start, etc. Im ready to forget all I know about carburetors.

I'm pretty confident in calling my shot that it won't be there in 5 years..

If the engine wasn't a fresh rebuild I probably wouldn't have sunk the money into the carb and heads but.. that seemed better than doing the easy route and throwing a LS at it
