Got the steering servo mounts brazed on and linkage done. 645MG will go in and be a little shorter than this servo.

Awesome work as usual Jay!

I wanted to be the first to make a scale steel drop pitman arm. :-( Nice job on that, I think it should work well, the plastic arm is pretty beefy.

Thanks. The rods aren't threaded. In this case I took some 3mm screws, chopped the heads off and
brazed them in the brakeline to make link mount studs.

Hasn't been posted on the front page yet, but I did a little tuber tips article and wrote this on adding
mounts like that......"Shock or link attachment points can be made using pieces of tubing combined with
either screws or all-thread. I have found some 3/16” tubing can be tapped directly to accept a 6-32 screw.
Or, 4-40 all-thread can be slipped all the way through (or brazed in) to provide attachment points."

Thanks, will give it a try. I was trying to figure out what to do to cut down on the draglink angle and
didn't like mounting the servo vertically and having it hang way down. I thought of trying a double-crossover
with two draglinks (going driver to passenger and then back to driver) but figured that would get too
messy and the pivot might look weird hanging off the passenger side. I'm gonna try the dropped pitman
combined with a small spacer on the passenger knuckle and hope to get a decent angle.

Guido has the servo on the passenger side going to the bellcrank pitmman arm on the drivers side. You can see the two rod ends stacked in the attached pic. The servo and 1st draglink are not in place yet.
The stack drops draglink #2 enough to give me a decent angle. When I make my dropped pitman arm, draglink #1 will be on top and draglink #2 will be below.
In this setup the servo arm and the pitman arm will both swing horizontal to the ground. The servo will be tucked up high and barely visible around the skidplate.

Prolly not very useful info for your build at this point, but food for thought anyway.

Ah...that's kinda cool. I hadn't thought of trying that method.

Motor & gear reduction in and took a TLT dogbone, chopped it in half and brazed up a stainless tube intermediate shaft.

Where did the piece that the spur gear attaches to come from?
