Finally an update and some modifications... I couldn't stand the sloppy steering and shifting so I decided to ditch the stock bell crank steering infavor of crossover. I reused the stock drag link by shortening it and threading the cut end with a M3 die. For the shift linkage I used the a shortened stock tie rod and the brass 5mm ball ends from the kit. I had to space the servos 1/8 so that the aluminum servo horns cleared the bottom of the chassis I decided to the lift the trans so a move the battery was in order. First I flipped two of the stock crossmembers Then I built a stop out of delrin so the battery dosnt slide forward and used a traxxes battery bar and more delrin blocks for the rear bought two new 5000mAh 2S LiPo, they had a black plastic case so once I remove the sticker they willl be stealth more to come... |

This is my first time seriously wiring LED's on a cralwer so I decided to buy a bunch of super high intensity LED's off ebay, they came from Honk Kong and with resisitors for 12V. I picked up some 150 Ohm resistors to work with my new 7.4V LiPo. I started with the switches for the LEDs', the perfect place to locate them is the space where the steering servo once was. More Delrin and some 80 thou PS... I built the harness using 22 AWG wire from radio shack and mini Dean's connectors For the cab I used two 5mm-50,000mcd and four 3mm-7,000mcd LED's. Two of the 3mm LED's I painted with Tamiya clear amber colored paint same for the bed but also painted the 5mm LED's with clear red installed: fog lights: also cant forget the trailer lights.... Ask and you shall recieve I picked up some Tamiya 4mm clamping wheel hex's to narrow the track width by almost 6mm. I think the slot where the cross pin goes is deeper than normal. When I wired three LED circuits I made it so the first switch operates the marker and tail lights: The second switch is for the head lights only: And the third one is for the fog lights: I made it so the rear turn signals and revese lights turn on with the fog lights so that its full bright (will light the whole garage) I think I got camera happy, been up to midnight ever night this week tweakin on the truck, cant wait for the trailer, drawing up plans next... |

That's a sweet truck. Is there more clearance now between the axle center section and the ground or does it just look that way with those wheels and tires?

Thanks for the comments everyone, a small update for you; I started on the trailer by cutting some 1/2" x 1/2" x 1/8" steel angle iron. I wasn't sure what material to make it out of but thought that this would be strong as all-get-out and i can weld it with my millermatic 210 . The outer dimensions of the bed are 9.5" x 21.5 so with the wheels and fenders overall width will be 11.75". Picked up this hitch from fleabay for 20 some-odd bucks: Its made from Delrin so I may rebuild the cross bar and just run the hitch and ball I made these from Hi-lifts leafs, not sure how they will hold up, we will see Also so more info on the paint since I've been asked a couple time: After tamiya primer I shot the underside, bed and window trim with Tamiya Semi-gloss black number TS-29: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...0&I=LXRS41&P=K Then I masked the bed and windows and used Tamiya Gunmetal Gray number TS-38: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...0&I=LXRS70&P=K To finish off I clear coated the body color only with this: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...0&I=LXRS31&P=K |
