Not realy an update but been debating what to do with the fender flares. I'm not really a fan of the pockets for the screws so I think I'm going to fill those in with body filler. Then I'm either going to paint the flares semi-gloss black or the body color, what do you guys think?

I totally agree, go with the body color. Also, your truck looks very clean without the front bumper and roll bar, i think the screw holes don't match your overall look. I'd fill them up. That's just my opinion though, any which way, your truck looks awesome!

Damn, I wanted to vote for flat black on the flares. This thing is sick, but needs some tube work. Or maybe some Ruenell bumpers or something

I would have said black too. Matches the wheels and makes them stand out. Clean tundra man, keep it up

I'm loving the looks of that tundra + those rims and tires + the fender flares :OOO What were those rims again?

EDIT: Just did a closer inspection on the mini deans that u did on your LEDs.. So u did common ... cathode (-) or was it anode ... :takes a quick look in wiki: .. common cathode Nice.. would have never thought of that ;)

I recently was lucky enough to get a 1.9 Campbell rock racer chassis from ecoli at MFF. This will finally give me have the motivation to finish this as a true tow rig.

First here is the build thread of the rock racer:

MFF Campbell Rock Racer

now some fun with a RC4WD transfer case...mmmmm:

Default major trailer update...

Well getting the campbell buggy almost complete has made me motivated to get the trailer functional

A couple months back I cut up a bunch of 1/2" x 1/2" steel angle for the side and front/back rails.

I since then I decided to shorten the trailer to 20.25 inches so I cut the side rails and then cut the cross braces from 1/2" x 1/8" steel flat stock. I used some 1/2" x 1/2" box for the tongue and some strips of 1/2" expanded steel for the deck

My MIG skills is rusty

The last couple months I've also been gathering all the suspension and axles parts. I have Hilift springs that I bent eyelets in along with some lower helper springs, I also got some RC4WD brass 12mm hex bushings. These will spin on 3/16" steel rod treaded M4 on ends for the sxle nuts. I will use landing gear collars to hold the other side of the hex's.
I bent TLT steering rods for U-bolts and will use TLT bracets to hold the outer ends of the leafs

For the inner end of the leafs I made some cantilever shackels

Drilled some holes for the brackets and cantilevers

Suspension mocked up

the cantilever seems OK in single sheer, no bindage with out a load

The axles for the trailer are 3/16" solid steel rod that I threaded with a 10-32 die. The brass bushing is from RC4WD and I used 3/16" RCplane wheel collars.

To make the springs and u-bolts work with the axle I fab'd a small plate from 1/8" Delrin.

All bolted up, it's a strong set up

I'm using HPI stockcar wheels and soft tires, I think they are the radials...

All assembled

Once the trailer was rolling I had to figure out how to mount the tow hitch on the Tundra and still allow the bed to tilt for battery access. I decided to use a piece of 2" x 2" x 1/8" think Al angle stock. It replaces the small angle bracket that came with the kit.

I will ditch the Delrin tow hitch soon so I getto fab'd the small brackets

Its tight to the bumper which is cool for clearance but it will need a huge drop hitch...

I hook up the trailer I had to use a 1" long piece of delrin as a "drop ntoungue"

I think I will have to make a nice metal drop hitch and get rid this POS

It works for now, later I wil make some fenders and taillight /license plate mount
