Scale isn't usually my thing, but this has got me rethinking it. I have a 1:1 Tacoma, so this Tundra is right up my alley. Keep up the good work!

Even with all my unfinished projects I still ain't too proud to bringing this one up from the dead for an update

Well after a couple months of searching since being discontinued I finally found a RC4WD Rapture chassis. Apparently this is the last one RC4WD sold and lets just say I had to made a serious commitment to get a hold of it! I also scrounged up some scale shocks and since I was already knee deep I also picked up some yota axles

Got the stock Tundra torn apart tonight

I made quick work of installing the transfer case clocking plate then I chamfered all the holes with the threaded stand offs. This allowed me to use flat head hard wear to mount the trans and inner frame rails. The bumper, springs and servo's were a tight fit but basically fell right together if the proper assembly sequence was used.

Just for Katan I used as much black hard wear as possible, here is the rear going together

to end the night I did a quick mock up of the axles and body to see the new 1/4" narrower track width...me likey...

Since I'd like to lower the ride height rather than using the stock leaf spacer I mounted the axles using a thinner block that came from chassis leaf mount. Also use the RC4WD leaf helpers on the top of the leaf pack. Check out this mess of linkages:

Next I remounted the LED switches and Rx to the chassis cover:

Love the lower and narrower stance of the truck, also check out the yota pumpkin poking out (SAS Tundra baby):

Unfortunately due to being a bit lower than normal I will have to do some "manipulation" to the bed to get the wheel well spaced correctly and to deal with the gap between the bed and cab:

This week I'll have to order up some 80mm shocks, cone washers and another bed to finish this one off...

Your rear body mount parts are not installed correctly for this chassis. You need to flip them round.

So either being a total Tamiya freak or having a manual open will make the following explanation easier to understand...

Per your suggestion I flipped the W8 part like Racer did in this thread:

http://www.rc4wdforum.com/showthread...4453#post14453

For the rear of the bed I flipped the H3 parts and used 10mm spacers in between the BB17 parts and the Rapture chassis.

All screwed down the gap between the cab and bed is comparable to stock, I did note that the rear wheel to fender well clearance issue was apparent before the chassis swap. I think my issue stems from using part L6 in place of L3 to mount the Yota axles. This makes for ~ 3mm lower ride height which amplifies the rear wheel centering issue.

To fix it I plan to remount the bed 3-4mm farther back, then I'll use a front section from another bed to fill the resulting gap. Also thinking I'll do a bed drop at the same time so been debating if I should hard mount it instead of the stock hinged set-up. This would also make it easier for me to mount a new metal tow hitch and also tube spare carrier like this:

but this is some sick stuff too:

OK, time to put this thing to bed...for now anyway.

My 80mm RC4WD scale shocks showed up this week. To make them work a bit better I cleaned out the stock oil and replaced the o-rings with the orange Losi variety. A couple drops of normal shock oil and they then got installed using the RC4WD cone washers:

The Tundra is looking more like a yota now, just can't get over the look of the axles!

For the rear I used some 90mm shocks that I had laying around, they had already been modded with the Losi o-rings and shock oil. As a side note, I installed these in the middle hole on the shock tower:

Body is all bolted down but I still have to make a battery mount and do the bed drop / lengthening:

trailer hitch will come soon after I finish a couple other projects
