A little video put together by sellenk at the RC4WD East Coast Scale Challenge this weekend. My rig shows up at 2:20 into the video. Fun weekend!!

This old rig looks so much better without the fender flares! That makes me illegal for C1 though. I guess it's time to put some shorter axles under it. Maybe RC4WD yota 2's. I think I'm going to ditch the leaf springs too. I've never been happy with the wheel travel.

These dang shackles haunt me! I can't deal with them any longer!

Other plans include a real skid plate, flipping the transfer case over and tucking it up a little higher, some plate sliders instead of the rails and lowering the body more. This dang t-case also haunts me.

I love my leaf springs but know it would perform so much better linked.

Mine didn't really bother me until the ECSC last year. I hung up on EVERYTHING!

I also want to redo the bumpers. I want some cruddy old tube bumpers and maybe a big goofy grill guard like you'd see on a ranch truck...like a home made one.

This is way too awesome to tear down! It's time to start a new truck build. My favorite clod of all time right here, as it sits! (PS: did you know a Skeleton J2 chassis links perfectly under a clod body? HINT)

Haha, thanks Chris! Don't worry, there will be plenty of GCM parts staying on it. I think the only parts coming off will be the shackles, I'm not switching out the chassis. This is my main C1 competition rig though, I can't stand to leave it alone when I can improve on it's capabilities. I've also considered leaving the rear leafs...just a thought. I do like that Skeleton J2 though! That's a really slick setup! I also want to move the front axle further forward to help with my approach angle. Take a look at Cory's setup here with the front axle position. This is really a nice setup.

I really enjoyed watching this rig while judging course 1 at ecsc last year. Should we expect to see it again this year? I really hope so.

if GCM is still making the "metalhead" axle housings, those would fit like a glove on this truck ....

Well his metalheads are sweet but they use axial internals...so switching to them won't accomplish what I need, which is a shorter axle. Metalheads are the exact same length as what's on there now.

Well I've started the tear down. I better get to work with the ECSC just four months away. I also decided it didn't make sense to keep the 4Ten chassis if I was going to a 4 link setup. That chassis is made for leafs and should be kept that way so I'm probably going to list it in the classifieds soon. Sorry Chris, BUT I will still be using a GCM forward motor mount and transfer case in an old SCX10 chassis I had laying around. I'm also trying not to spend to much on my trucks right now because I just bought a house so my chassis sale will help pay for the new K44 axles. They're not always in stock so I started ordering pieces today. RC4WD had the front axle in stock today so I got it. I still need to pick up some HD ring and pinion gears for both along with a rear 4 link truss. I've seen the rear axles on eBay so I'll grab one of those once I sell some more toy car parts.

I need to do some clean up on the body. I'll probably hit a few of the panels with primer and then I need to figure out how to lighten it some. It's really heavy and I'm not sure my K44's will be quite as tough as my built axial axles so I need to shed some weight to lessen the strain on them. I've just got so much dang plastic in that drop bed it weighs a ton, LOL.

No real photo updates at the moment, it would just be a big pile of parts anyway. Stay tuned...

Always loved this truck, can't wait to see what you do with it. I like the looks of leafs too but never could stand the lack of performance they give.

Thanks! Yeah they hung up on stuff a bit much for me and since I compete with this rig that needs to be addressed. I was always a little unhappy with the width of the axles too, the stance was just too wide and the rubber flares weren't my favorite.
