Sliders came out like artwork Ernie! Pluto should have Sylvester the Cat to help him inspect your welds.

Thanks Nate, you know how I like to repurpose and can't throw anything in the round file. These were the first sliders I made for my K10 and scrapped because we didn't like how they looked. See anything on them that looks familiar?

Just took a little cut here and there!

What kind of gas are you using to solder with? This mini torch I have isn't getting the joint hot enough I don't believe. Using 56% silver solder and stay silv flux. Not getting anywhere near the finish I want with my mig and fluxcore wire

I have been soldering off and on for 30 years, through work and hobby. This is the set-up that I have used at home. Single B-tank and a uniweld torch.

Torch I use, it is not a high priced set up.

If you need any help let me know.

Takes practice, can be done with small mig, but gotta treat it like sheetmetal bodywork. Silver solder is faster.

Most guys who do the type of work you do, seem to use a two tank setup wtih really small torch head. How do you control the heat on nearby solder joints so that it doesn't un-solder them in the process, with large looking torch?

I think it is practice more than anything else. Most of the soldering (brazing) I do the joints aren't that close together. The temp I need for a good strong joint only needs to extend a 1/4" on both sides of the joint. Metal color and the consistency of the flux are two things I watch for when heating a joint. When I apply the solder I watch the flow and move the heat on and joint until I have a nice clean joint. And your right in your thinking, to much heat makes for a bad joint. If you burn the flux you may as well stop, re-clean your joint and start over!

Yes it has been awhile! I have been trying to finish up on the design for the Losi CCR axle, and it has been taking all my shop time. I talked with Kelly at Lunsford Titanium (been friends for years) and I think he is going to write a program to machine some brass for me!! That will help a lot. The parts are to improve steering on the axles. They would be XR width for the comp guys and some at scale width for the scale guys. If you haven't checked them out go to the losi crawler section and take a look!

Ok, it's been a while since I had time to work on my jeep build. I took a week off from building axles to build a winch bumper.

All DIY,

Started with some Goodwill stock. I think it was a leg to something.

View of the under side.

All for now, thanks for looking.

If I understand your question, they could be painted, or run without the weights? I like having the weight on the knuckle instead on the wheel.

Thank you sir, I guess that's why it takes me so darn long to fabricate parts.

I'm inclined to say that you could put a piece of delrin tube or something around it and glue it in place but I don't have a set of his axles so I don't know for sure.

Now I understand what you were asking fr8cture. It doesn't have to be that shinny brass color.

Thanks for the input guys, there could be a number of different treatments and you both covered a couple.
I think most of the ascender guys like it because you can spot right away that they are running Codyboy Design axles.

Worked on a rear bumper for buds jeep today. Stainless 3/16" rod and 1/4" tube.

I used the 1/4" tube as a spacer and after I soldered it in I compressed the tube behind the bumper to drill and use as the mount.

Bud had to climb in to give it a try.

Thanks for looking.

Ok, I can't believe it has been almost a year on this build. Tomorrow it is coming off the shelf!!!
A new year and I'm ready to put some more time into this little guy.

Nice build

I think i will have to try that SSD tranny on my SCX 10 II instead of some of the stuff i have been contemplating.
Also need to get my hands on some tubing, but i will try to TIG it together as i have even less hand time with a TIG welder than i have soldering.
