| Re: 2008 1.9 Trojen Tundra (smog) I never was any good with interiors, maybe getting back into it this time around I will have more patience to mess with them. I usually got the truck built and couldn't wait to go out and play.

| Re: 2008 1.9 Trojen Tundra (smog) installing interiors are finicky and really just screw up your centre of gravity, but I like having them for my own fantastic reasons. I might add, its been -40 degrees here and getting outside has been challenging It's a good time for engaging the finicky...

Gotta say, I think that some builds are best savored. The VS4 is definitely something special and falls in that camp. Too boot, I find if I rush my projects I just end up spending money faster

Great build! I love the emblem, and the interior. Those RSD shocks look so good, but I ran mine for a while before giving up on them. I swapped out the springs with Axial Icons, but they never did perform very well. Keep them for the concourse, and swap them out before the run. Keep up the great work! I am looking forward to seeing more. |

Too bad about the RSD, I have some softer springs on order. I am going to try and improve on the current dampening/spring rate but the more I read about them the less confident I get it will help. We’ll see. But for now...

| Re: 2008 1.9 Trojen Tundra (smog) It's the Tamiya Bruiser driver with the head off of an old war model. I just did some sanding and cutting to make it all fit in the cab. Then painted it, and made a styrene smoke, of course

I had to completely cut my figure to pieces in order to make him look right in my Ugamug cab. Keep up the great work!

| Re: 2008 1.9 Trojen Tundra (smog) Honostly havent done much with it, but did take it for a run a couple of weeks ago! Quickly realized I need to re-shim the differs I set them too tight. That is definitely next. My ascender has been fun to run in the snow so got caught up on that the past few weeks. Right on, thanks Jato! He did somehow did end up looking like James Dean or a young Paul Newman |

Hey smog - just checking in on your build and to say hello! I got the TRC Fab Truggy out for a rip today and it made me think of your build. |

Yeah I have been neglecting this one for awhile. I did get the grill, headlight buckets and lenses mounted but still haven't re-shimmed the differentials. I really need to stop putting it off. Was on vacation for a couple of weeks and then travelling with work. Life is finally settling down so I am able to focus some hobby time at the bench. The snow is finally melting here and I look forward to seeing what this rig is capable of Appreciate your asking mewalsh. Its excellent motivation

I can relate with the weather and work. It finally broke here and I’ve been able to get out and get some work done on the backyard trails. But, I’ll be traveling every week of April for work so things are gonna be back on hold for a bit. Looking forward to the updates smog.

Alright, so I finally put this thing back on the bench. Its been awhile, but we've been having too much fun playing with the Ascenders. So I don't entirely feel as though I have been neglecting this unit . Glad I got back to it because now that I have finished the troubleshooting I have had an enjoyable test run. Turns out I unwittingly pushed the wrong width bearing inside the front differential. As a result the pinion was resting 2mm too deep in the housing. An issue I unsuccessfully tried to solved with a shim before I realized it was an issue with the bearing. Glad to have that brain fart behind me. The other issue I encountered is that the wheels were gouging the knuckles so I have temporarily thrown a set of Race Claws on the front. They are a similar size and tread to the Hyrax so... Beyond that I got my headlight housings and LED's mounted up and took her out for her maiden voyage. Shot a quick vid to boot. As you might notice the drag brake might be set a little hard..lol Last edited by smog; 04-04-2019 at 02:20 PM. |
