Yes, the rear shaft is a curiosity But by observing the operating cycle of the rear axle, I noticed that the shaft did not slide more than 0.5mm. I removed some shim in the transmission, at the level of the exit shaft and it is him who moves very slightly, it works very well And it is very light

I might have to give it a try on the rear driveshaft on my Sporty. Right now I have the Wraith MIP ones. They work great, but I am sure your design will be much lighter.

Yes, it's light, only 17g Compared with the 60g of the MIP.
One short video to see how it works: NoSlideShaft. Honestly, if I had not seen it on my rig, I shall have laughed about the idea

Nice work on your Rig this should be the killer at the Big 2013

I will start with a build soon of my own 2.2s Rig.

I have to talk with you about some ideas

Hi, some news.

I received today my parts machined by Tomy. As usual, it is very good work, very clean and very precise . Big big thanks Tomy for your very good job !!

In situation

The weight, with some optimizations on electronics, rear shock , and the configuration of tires, varies between 1500g and 1540g (3.3 and 3.4 lbs) RTR

Tomorrow I receive, if all is well , my last optimization and the Margouillat will be ready for SuperCrawl in Germany !!!

They're part of the Gecko family and black ones are pretty rare! Black salamanders exist but they don't climb anywhere near as well!!

Nice, very nice....
Think we will meet at the supercrawl this year. Hope to see this nice machine in real life.
1500gr is nice. Hope to get my SuDu one in the range of 1600 with the body on it.
Depending on wheels and added weight

Hi,

Some updates :

I replaced my old front shock which functioned in semi-drop by modified SCX10.

I also added a little weight in the rear axle, because it was too light and it rocks quickly in side-hill. Around 1oz (29g) in each wheels.
There is no weight with front because the natural weight bias without ballast is of 62/38.

With these two modifications, to crawl it is more stable and more foreseeable.

After, I made of another curious experiment, to remove all the lug of old tires to see adherence…
For this experiment I have use of shaven old Losi assembled on VP rims.
I removed the weights in the rear axle to compensate the weight of the rims, the final weight being exactly the same.

The test did not give a good performance , but I noticed that to crawl it was a little more stable.
The distribution of the weight on the rear axle having changed. Thus that gave me the idea to test a solution even odder… to ballast the rims carbons

I removed the weights on the axle and to move on the external side of the CF rims, for moved the weight as much as possible on the end of the wheel.

For not too much added weight on the front axle I have little to nibble of the weight where it was still possible;
Egresor C-Hub

Beef tube

Front spool and front shaft were also low-fat

Result, the weight of crawling RTR (without ballast) goes down to 1483g - 3.27 lb.
With the 4 ballasted wheels, the weight goes back to 1600g - 3.5 lb.

And the result is very interesting, felt driving is more pleasant, the machine seems still a little more stable… The idea is odd, but I like the result well.
It is like going in balance, the arms are raised, the center of gravity move up a little (the arms are placed higher) but the body is more stable, there it is a little similar.
The profit is stability seems to compensate for the weight in more. It is an adjustment probably specific to my crawling because normally I do not use a weight, but it is an idea of I will try to develop

Very cool build! I really like the way you experiment. Sometimes experiments don't work, but sometimes they do!

Thanks Shaunkjar,

About experiment, very often that does not go, seldom that functions, but there is always something to learn

HI,

Some update. New rear upper geometry
On the left the old version and on the right the news. It weighs only 5g

Not really new it is the kind of geometry which one finds on Gate Keeper and another frames. I wanted to test this configuration with the parallel upper links.
I have the feeling which this configuration is a little more stable compared to the links cross, but it is very subtle and difficult to know why. But I continue the tests.

How wide is your R2v2 transmission? It allows your motor to be low and centered, right?

Oops, I looked back now I see that the motor is not centered but it is quite low.

Ha ha! I imagine if anyone can find a way, it will be you! I'll take your old trans when you figure out the new one! That looks like a great setup.
