Your truck is incredible, thats some very nice work. Your link geometry is sexy and the different lower link widths front and rear on the skid is interesting. I would love to take it for a spin. |

Thanks for all you comments, happy that this project interests you Quote:
The problem is the motor to fix in front of tranny (It is an important point of the project to optimize the distribution of the weights, without any ballast, the weight is naturally well distributed 60/40). It's impossible to triangulate the lower link as on the rear. But the upper link are triangulated, because of the position of servo. Thus it is not finally too a problem if the lower link are less triangulated. Moreover this configuration of link is very strong, and supports the shocks of the front axle well. Another characteristic, the front shock are in semi-droop (30% normal - 60% droop). While with the rear they is normal shock. This shock configuration decreases the torque twist (also helped by a good geometry of the link ) | |

Your link design looks very well thought out and locations are purposeful. It looks like it would perform really well, am I right? The chassis design is also elegant and again well thought out and purposeful but yet minimalistic. The whole thing is a class act, seriously I like your Sporty. What's it weigh? |

Thanks Stormin2u. Yep, It perform very well, it is probably best the crawler than I build. I take even more pleasure to drive it than my Berg In fact, I built SportsMann by curiosity, to discover this class. Also to refine my piloting, without artifice (the dig). The dig is very important, but it makes it possible to correct much error of piloting. Without dig, it is necessary to have immediately the good trajectories. And I was very agreeably surprised by the possibilities and the capacities of SportsMann. The passages, on my video, my surprised myself, I did not think of progress to these places (w/o dig) This is very formative ! It must weigh approximately 2.3 kg (5.07 lrs) RTR, of which 130g (4.6 oz) of ballast to the rear (for 2 wheel) and 160g (5.64 oz) with the front. |

That there looks very cool. I really like how the skid and the chassis wrap around the tranny. Where did the tranny gears come from? Is the tranny full custom made or is it a modified version that is available for purchase? Once again thanks for sharing this creation with the community. Very original indeed!

Tranny is an r2 from RC4WD with a moded case. This is an awesome build, very inspiring with all of the creative ideas. It definitely has the wheels in my head turning.

I think my favorite part of the whole build is that wishbone brace that goes from between the rear lowers up to the chassis and the asymmetrical one that goes from the passenger side up to the front shocks. Very cool!

Hello, Some update, hummm... some experimental update I bought RPM 2 Stage Shock Piston Light Medium RPM80420. I am curious to test on the rock. But the most interesting evolution is the upper link... I hope... I bought a Carbon Fiber Tube 24 .157 OD (4mm). To manufacture the link, it is very simple. I drill the rod ends with 4mm and I encase the carbon tube. Of course, I stick the whole with epoxy adhesive. The first test, it is impossible to make move the rod ends… But of course, the rocks will be the true judge. For the weight. 2.5g per link Each link measures +/-10cm ( 4") (The aluminum rod ends ball help also a little) Now, remains that let dry and let's go to the rocks Last edited by TotoRax; 12-20-2011 at 06:41 PM. |

I use the RPM pistons their fun to play with. Love the links especially the weight, nice work sir. So what's she weigh RTR? The Video was great to watch your driving was fantastic the last climb and descent is crazy cool. your rig is very sophisticated your quite the engineer/designer. With the last weighed, 2070g - 4lbs 9oz RTR. I removed the weights in the rear (100g), finally I prefer without.

Haha. Glad there's an update on this. Another ingenius idea! If your links survive a weekend of crawling, me and the rest of the world are going to copy your idea.

Hello, First test today, not of breakage But it will be necessary to test on the long run and in more difficult situations. I used tube, but I think that carbon round would be better. |
