ya.. i've bent a couple of homemade links already on my honcho (steering and one lower rear using 8/32" all thread and alum tubing) so i dont think its up to the task of my ax10 with the way i drive!!!! with all my rc's and racing mowers i have only 2 speeds... stopped or wide open.. im thinking buying alum links is the way to go plus my LHS has them in stock. |

Thats why.... all thread is crap (mild steel) & bends easly (unless you get hardened or stainless).... same thing with the alum tube (its usualy not aircraft grade & or too thin...)... You need aircraft grade alum rod... then drill & tap it to put rod ends onto it... garantee it wont brake... (not with the measly 3 to 7 ish lbs your crawler will weigh in at..) |

i got some stainless tubing that i made a front steering link out of for my ax10 and honcho, took SS tubing and slid some 8/32 all thread inside of it and it works awesome. got some left over so going to replace the 2 rear lowers on the honcho with it. think i might get some more too.

i made some lower links for the honcho.. so an update- stripped the spur gear yesterday but ended up getting a $100 gift cert for my birthday from my parents for my LHS so going to get aspur gear, lipo charger, some good hex drivers and maybe some links... i got my GST cheque too so a new 7955TG will be in the works very soon.. maybe this week if i can get to the LHS. also got $100 from my grandparents for my birthday so a new set of tires will be in the works too. |

hey rick has some spur gears and he also has some long grub screws for the stock axial links all you would have to get is the link kit and the link ball ends

Good choice on the servo...you're going to need an external Castle BEC to properly utilize it's full strength and not cause any brown outs. Also another suggestion is to flip your entire skid w/motor and tranny backwards where your motor is facing the front and the spur facing the rear. This is called a mirrored Axial tranny...a good mod to do if you're on a budget and want more weight distribution forward. |

i've already spun the skid 180* with the spur gear facing forward and i like it. well might have a chance to hit the LHS tomorrow morning.. hopefully he has what i need, if not i will order it. thinking i might go the sedona's and try a sipe job. |

| Re: got some new goodies!!!!
so update time.... and pics to come when everything is installed.. so just got back from the LHS and a shopping spree i got a HS-7955TG steering servo, HB sedona's,a new spur gear and since i have 2 crawlers now i thought it was time to buck up and buy some decent tools so i got some team associated hex drivers.. so here's an updated list of total spent on this rig. rig- $292.00 tires- $47.00 spur gear- $5 servo- $134.00 tool's-$50 ---------------------- about 530 bucks spent so far.. this rig is close to where i want it, i still want to OD/UD the axle gears and get some links. well im off to install some new goodies and take some pics will post later. |

got my new parts installed. the weighted wheels with orange beadlocks and hammers were borrowed so i talked to a friend that i borrowed wheels from about trading my rims, foams for his wheels. he was fine with it but my cheap ass hex t-handle let me down and kept stripping so i bought some good tools today and love them.. so here's what i did.. pulled apart both sets of tires (his wheels and my stock wheels off my ax10) and added my lock rings to his wheels with a brand new set of sedona's. then i assembled my new wheels, tires and his lock rings back together... this took me a very long time by hand but its done. my friend can have them back now. also got the 7955TG servo put in and a new spur gear. havent run it outside yet but hoping tomorrow i can take it for a spin on my course. i did get a couple pics but nothing fancy because we all know how to install these items onto our crawlers. i will get some action shots tomorrow. gotta have one of these pics. haha the parts!! these tires will most likely get a sipe job but i want to run them stock first. |

dont you lose some steering by putting the batteries over the axle whether its 2 on each side of a centered servo or 1 next to an off centered servo??? Wont the tires rub on the battery packs when they are fully locked out??

9700trevor- ya i can drive it i was just outside playing.. i was climbing lines i couldnt before.. i run lipo with it velcro'd to the back of the servo. those batteries are 4 AA batts for static weight they have nothing to do with running the truck. no they dont rub on the batts.. 1 tire rubs on the spring at full lock but im not too worried about it. got some outdoor pics too will get them up soon. |

got a good 4 hours of crawling in today with this rig.. the 7955TH steering servo does not like the new 2.4ghz speed controller, the servo sucks so much juice that the esc cant keep up and it shuts off when your using the steering and throttle at the same time, seperate its fine. so with that in mind im gonna swap my novak rooster from the honcho into this rig because i know that setup works awsome.. pics up tonight!! all in all it was good day.. tires performed well, need to get used to them though but thats just stick time now..
