I want one of these please! Looks great! Are you also making the upper link mounts for the axles? Thanks Ty

As far as I know the 2.2 sportsman class does not require a body but the 2.2s class does.

Looking good Tomi

Any vague indications so far as to pricing for the various options??
Look for Douwes thread named "Dutch Sportsman" in the AX10 section. You'll find some thought on pricing there. More detail will have to wait for a Vendor thread.

Thanks for the interest!

Thanks for the info! So if I want one now can you guys make that happen? Can you buy it without the cab? Thanks again Ty

There is no stock right now. Only a few chassis's are made so far. We will create a Vendor thread as soon as we are ready. We are working on this as fast as we can at the moment.

The chassis will be available as a base only or as a bodiless version.

I wanted to give you a look at how the chassis looks mounted up to a set of axles. Nothing is final here, I just used what I had laying around. The shocks are too tall so ground clearance is about 10-15mm too tall. I want to have the front of the skid plate down to 70mm and the front of the chassis angled down a little bit more. Shorter shocks are on their way which I believe will get me where I want.

I will use the rear link mount that Douwe designed but will probably go for a slightly different mount at the front as I believe I will prefer to have the servo, battery and esc mounted above the front axle.

Despite the temporary mock up I find the chassis has nice proportions.

Looking great mate. That will go well locally. I'm sure there will be a few Aussies keen on this

If you or Douwe can do the links in ti instead of alloy although I realise there will be a cost upgrade it will assist in sliding over rocks.

What shocks are you running in the mock up?

Is the chassis cab measurements all good for legalities to?

The high pitched topper should allow good roll over recovery to. Though I do wonder if is to high maybe. Not sure if lowering the pitch of the A pillar would take it away and if the roofline was a fraction lower too.

That's true. Ti slides better. The whole link set thing will be tricky if there is a lot of interest in it. I only have a small manual lathe to work with for making the links. A complete link set takes me about 3-4 hours to make. I simply don't have enough resources to make a lot of Ti link sets. But we will think of something.

Douwe originally designed the chassis with the SCX shocks in mind. For the mock up I just took what I first could find in the garage. The fronts are 4" Traxxas Big Bores and the rears are 4" Losi Crawler shocks. I measured both shock pairs to be 105mm eye to eye. I have ordered 3.5" Big Bores and plan to give them the shock cap mod and adjust eye to eye length to 95mm. I think this will bring me close to the ground clearance I'm looking for.

It should be. Here's a pic showing the dimensions. Width is 80mm. You will notice that the tall topper indeed makes the chassis 8mm higher than the minimum requirements. Rollover should be good on paper. But testing will tell.

According to the 2012 US Rules bodiless chassis minimum dimensions are:

▪ 2.3.5 - 2.2 Crawler class bodiless 8" overall length, 3" overall width, and 3.75" overall height.

8" = 203.20mm
3" = 76.20mm
3.75" = 95.25mm

I believe we can still adjust the topper if need be. Thanks a lot for your input, Ben.

2.2s is the national class for sportsman rigs. Sportsman is run at club level. 2.2s does require a body while sportsman class does not .

Ok thanks! I guess the title kinda confused me as well. Since it says both. Great looking chassis anyways!

Well this chassis can do both. It turns into a 2.2s chassis without the topper and hood . Instead of the topper you install two horizontal braces. Douwes Dutch Sportsman build shows the chassis built up as a 2.2s version.

Just send the chassis plates to me and I'll drill two missing holes for you.

Got my 3.5" Big Bore shocks today. Couldn't wait and escaped to the garage to mod the shock caps for bind free movement.

Now where is that 3.2mm drill bit?

Found it! Drilling through the caps after I cut the stock mount of.

Finished set.

Did a set of Mini-T spring cups as well.

And this is the stance now. After the cap mod the shocks ended up at 92mm eye to eye. That's 3.6". The front of the skid plate is now at 75mm. But the front axle is not clocked right and once that is done, the front will sit a little lower still. Probably close to 70mm, which is what I am aiming for, and I'll be able to raise the shock up one hole for a little steeper angle.

That's ok mate. Got most of gear from my own built sporty I won the Nats with. Just got replacement ESC's from Oneten, though only need one of them. Only some VP gear and a few extra alloy screws needed, but good to go otherwise. Sent a pm regarding other parts I will likely need.

Got two scale builds on and a wraith to tinker with in the mean time if I get board
