I'm really bad about getting videos to post of my rigs in action, but here is one I got of a fun little climb. Nothing amazing or earth-shattering, just a whole lotta fun. My son and I attended the RC4WD Scale Challenge at Disney, OK this last weekend and of course threw the Nightmares in the car hoping to find some comp action after the scale stuff was over. Found this rock and couldn't resist trying to make it to the top. Took a couple of tries, but finally got up it. In the video you can see chad30w's rig already sitting at the top also: Disney fun climb

Picture from side showing angle of climb, it gets steeper in the middle:

Picture with my son (Captain of Crunch) for height reference, he's about 6'2", so the climb was roughly 15':

So I finally got around to finishing my set of narrowed Rovers I literally started back in the winter. My full-width Rovers have done so well for me that I really wasn't in a huge hurry to change them, but narrow seems to be the way to go these days so I wanted to give it a try. I definitely have a whole new respect for the guys that can make these things look almost factory, it ain't easy!
I mounted them to the beautiful G10 wheels that Don sent me a while back (thanks again bud) and they're ready to try out at our local comp this Sunday. I took about 7/16" out of the middle, but was surprised that they still look pretty wide after cramming the foams (CI narrow DD's) in and mounting. Shaved and siped them like my full-width tires so I can compare them equally. On to the pics:

Next to a full-width Rover:

Nice work, tires are fun to build! Can't wait to run with you at crawlapalooza, just got the old losi rebuilt and ready for action.

Thanks Thommy, I won't say it was fun, but it was my first set.
Looking forward to Crawlapalooza as well!

Well okay, then. Initial thoughts after running them at our local comp today are that I really don't know what to think. There was one gate where the rig seemed to push a little more than I expected it to, but then there was another where the narrow width seemed to hook into the rock a bit better. Overall, the traction seemed to be about the same. Granted, the tires are not broken in yet, so that may make a difference down the road... I wanted to set up some really tough lines and run them with my old tires and then with the narrow tires and see which did better, but it was waaaaaaay too hot today to stick around for that.
All in all, I think they performed as well as my old tires, but I'm not sure they performed better. I guess I was expecting to see a little more difference since narrow tires seem to be the way to go nowadays.
Oh, I won the comp, so I'm happy enough with how they performed.

Awhile back I was reading JENS' thread and saw his new MLST2 body. It looked really great, so I decided to get a couple and give them a shot (thanks JENS). These are really nice bodies, and dirt cheap too. I gave it my usual tiger-striped theme and am really happy with how it turned out. Mini bodies in general look pretty silly on sporty rigs, but this one looks a little less silly than most. Honestly, I don't understand the new rule on bodies; I thought the idea behind requiring bodies on sporty rigs was to make them look more realistic. IMHO, they should have made bodiless legal instead, but that's another discussion.
Anyway, here are the pics:

My son (who is also a BWD driver) liked the body too, so I painted him one also:

Thanks! We used to both do the black and red since we're a father-son team, but then I ventured off and had to be different.
And yes, it is 2 Nightmares you see.

So I finally took the time to sit down and rebuild the thread after the Photobucket bomb... sorry for the delay. The rig is still working great, and I couldn't be happier with how it has been performing.

Here are some pictures from last weekend's King of Missouri event:

Took a bad bounce off gate 5 on the Shafty course and landed straddling gate 6... Ended up in 3rd place for the day because of it.
Decided "what the heck, why not?" and entered the Nightmare in the Pro Class (I don't own a Pro rig). Ended up with the only perfect score of the day (-20) and took the win against the MOA rigs.
Here's a pic of my rig and the trophies it won that day:

BTW, my son had some mechanical issues during his Shafty run so after making some adjustments, he entered his Nightmare in the Pro Class also, and ended up taking second for the day.
I think having 2 Nightmares beat out the MOA rigs speaks pretty well about the capabilities of this chassis.

Been a while since I updated this thread, but the ol' Nightmare S is still going strong. Just came back from this year's King of Missouri event where it took 1st place again. I wasn't allowed to run it in the Pro Class this year, so I had to borrow a rig and ended up winning that too. Our end of the season comp is next weekend, then the Nightmare will get a full tear-down and rebuild along with a special update...

Thanks Eddie! Pretty sure the rebuild will include some new CI foams.

It's aluminum. Don made 3 the other day; 1 for himself, 1 for my son, and 1 for me.
