I think so. It's pretty quick and a lot of fun on 2s. I'm not concerned with burning up this motor since it will be replaced soon anyway.

Thanks.
It's not bad. The body is pretty narrow, and the tires don't seem to rub any worse than any other body. I also haven't done any trimming yet. I probably won't put too much effort into trimming it anyway, since I still have my stock XR-10 body that's not being used.

I measure about 5 3/4" X 17 1/4".

I know a lot of people have been judging this by the looks of the body, but I never had any intention of keeping it for long.

The XR-10 knuckle didn't fit that well with the dogbones, so the left front snapped when I was at Johnny Park. This was actually my fault, since I saw it was having problems during full lock steering, but decided to run it anyway. After breaking it, I ran it for another 30 minutes trying to break the right side, but it held fine. I really think if the kingpin screws are replaced before driving it, the front end should be fine.

So my big complaint with the way it crawled was the tires, and lightweight wheels. Luckily I still had my stock XR-10 wheels, and some spare tires.

I also wanted to lower the body some.

I think the changes will help quite a bit...hopefully I can drive it before Tuesday Night, but I'm not sure I will be able to.

It's almost starting to look like a real crawler

Get that battery mounted in the front. Helps a lot. You'll need to extend the servo wire if you want the radio box in the rear, but that's easy.

Anyone have any idea if aftermarket bodies that fit the original AX10 would fit the Ridgecrest?

Did that myself. Problem is now, the drag brake kicks in and does a front flip. lol Is there anyother way to disable that other then the castle link?

My problem with the drag brake is there isn't enough, but I want a crawler.

Hooked up the castle link tonight to make some changes before tomorrow night. Those of you with this ESC will see nothing new. Basic Axial splash screen (I actually like this ESC...I have one in my rally car):

This is where I want to make some changes. One problem the Ridgecrest has with crawling is the dragbrake. 50% works well for bashing, but not crawling. I had a lot of problems with rollbacks this weekend.

Since I was messing with the dragbrake, I had to open the electronics box:

The box seemed water-resistant, but I wouldn't say water-proof. Since I'm only interested in crawling, it doesn't matter...it had to go.

Almost a full ounce gone:

I wanted to comp this straight out of the box at least once, but my parts box is growing:

This is what I ended up with for tomorrow. I'm leaving the top tray where it is for now, but it may find a place in the box after tomorrow night.

I had to get the left front ready. I've had these hanging on the wall for about half a year. They were going to be a rear steer for my class 3/TTC truck but that project is still stalling.

I'm only putting the left front in. I want to see how long the right front holds up with just the kingpin screw change.

That's pretty much all the time I have before tomorrow night, and all I really want to do. I want to get an idea of this truck during a comp while still "close" to stock.

I'll be running 700mAh 2s batteries tomorrow. While at Johnny Park, they lasted for about 12 minutes which is more than enough.

Wish me luck

It's cool that you're going to comp it at least once with just a few simple mods first. Look forward to the future surgery.

It's easy to see the areas I'll have trouble with. Stock servo is pretty weak, and so is the tie-rod. It's geared too tall for crawling, and this motor is too fast. It needs a BEC as well, but I wanted to get some sort of baseline and work up from there.

I should have a bunch of goodies after tonight.

if i may ask a question, if i was to ever buy one of these, it would be a parts truck to build a scale truck. do you think with an additional reduction at the motor would be all it would need amongst the rest of the scale stuff that would get added?

I think it needs a gear reduction even for a scaler, unless you are building a rock racer. Low speed control is a bit tough with the way it comes out of the box.

Like what you've done, any chance of sticking another body on it, so we can all see it's looks potential?

Cheers

I just have to say that that thing looks hideous. Is Axials design team blind? I mean cmon, plus everything is plastic. What ever happened to an aluminum chassis at least. with the chassis and all the other new stuff, to me it looks like a wk and wraith had a baby that was stepped on shortly after birth. Would like to see the potential in this "whateveruwannacallit".

Good design is profitable and appeals to the majority, not the minority.
