I would have to agree with Jim on this point, You have to decide at some point which ESC and motor combo to go with, and from what I have seen in this site as a whole, there isn't alot of people using the Vrxl traxxas stuff... especially in a crawler.. as Jim said in an earlier post you don't see a "1:1 Toyota going 200mph though the mud" . Yes you want more wheel speed than what you have but you want it to be manageable not ballistic. You also seem very concerned with breakage. Well I think that is what we are all trying to avoid and why we have such a great site to come to and gain knowledge and take and give advice, what we do with such stuff is our own business, however, I believe that anyone who is viewing this tread and reading all the posts is thinking the same thing that I am... Bite the bullet make a decision and go with it. I dont think there are very many rigs on this site that are bomb proof but I believe that is what we are all trying to accomplish.

If you want to see what kind of difference voltage makes in a crawler, ask Irock or better yet

Now just imagine 5S or 6S

Just my

finally got the vxl system and put it in, all i have to say is wow
its slow on 2s then i thought it would be, but thats a good thing, its still got good wheelspeed, not sure about runtime or how much torqe it has but time will tell. i might need to get a 3s to se how good that is

well i pulled the vxl system back out today to put in my dads slash 4x4
now i think im going to go with a brxl, and a 30t or a 35t motor, but im not sure what 30 or 35t motor i should get. It will mostlikely be from hh, but im not sure what would be best in a 1.9 honcho. And i want to run atleast 3s in it.

well its been a while since iv updated, im about to order some parts and need help on a few things.
with the dmg rear 4link mount does that come with the hardware need to mount that to the axle?(if not what do i need), also im going to order a few 3s batteries but i dont know if i should go with a few of these
http://www.hobbypartz.com/77p-2200mah-3s1p-111-30c.html
a few of these
http://www.hobbypartz.com/77p-2650mah-3s1p-111-25c.html
or a few of these
http://www.hobbypartz.com/77p-sl2200-3s1p-20c-3333.html
without looking at the capacity would a 20c be that big of a diferenc compared to a 25c or a 30c?
also im not sure if i should go with the hh sport 35t motor or the hh expert 35t motor? With the price diference i could buy another battery if i went with the sport and one less with the expert, so i gess im asking would there be a significant difference?

Im running a BRXL and HH 35T Sport on 3S with the stock spur and 19T pinion. I just sold a Rustler VXL that I loved and am happy with the speed and power of my Honcho. Looks like he still has the combo selling for $109 which means the 35T is $10. If you don't like it, then nothing lost.

Have you considered the Tacon 1200kv brushless motor from Hobbypartz? It's $22 and brushless which mens water and mud are fine and no rebuilds ever. Plus a 1200kv brushless motor will have a wide range of safe gearings so you can mix wheelspeed and torque. Then just combine it with whatever brushless Esc makes you happy

There is no cogging with this unsensored motor?

Cogging is not an issue with good sensorless setups as long as the kv is appropriate for the application. The advantage of sensored is a smoother throttle curve, however you seemed to like the Vxl which is entirely innapropriate for an Scx and it didn't bother you. So an appropriate sensorless brushless motor should be right up your alley, especially if you wanna go mudding and get wet. Sensored brushless don't like water.
