Default MIP clearance issue?

Anyone else experience slight rubbing on an 87 tooth spur gear and a MIP drive shaft? was thinking about dremeling some material off shaft, but wanted to keep it balanced best as possible. Thanks for any suggestions

hey buddy, iv not had the pro blem but would make sure that your fitting up by the spur gear is all the way onto the trans output shaft and that all of the other stuff near there is seated correctly

ya everything seems to be just fine. I cant seem to figure out how to upload a pic for reference. its bareley rubbing on the spur gear only in spots on the rim of the drive shaft cup. I have seen photos of others and the spur gear looks to be in the little nook in the machining of the smaller output part off the trans. mine is rubbing on the largest diameter bell piece of the main shaft..

This solved my issues, TowerHobbies.com | 4681 Traxxas Spur Gear 48P 81T it's 81t so you will gain some wheel speed or you can try a 84t but I don't know if this will clear as good TowerHobbies.com | 4684 Traxxas Spur Gear 48P 84T

I've beveled the edge of the spur before when it barely hits. It's common depending on angle of the shaft, if you delete the slipper you can run up to a 91. With a little more work a 93 will fit.

thanks guys.
How would I go about deleting the slipper clutch? drill 3 spur gear holes in the smaller tapered piece that collars the pin on the shaft? just seems so thin and close to the trans case unless i tapped it.. thanks for any advice.

mine only rubs during extreme flex, you have something wrong. have you looked at the shaft while it rotates?

ya everything seems to be fine. its just super close and like you said rubs under extreme flex. there is basically zero tolerance between the two. gotta RR 87 tooth spur gear though and the outside diameter is slightly smaller than stock axial so that helped.. the hobby store didn't have anything smaller than an 87.. so ill prob order that 81 tooth and run a smaller pinion gear and try that out.

If it is that close don't even worry about it. I have the RR 87t and MIP's as well and it is close but I still see day light! I also don't have a slipper.

It's not rubbing, its self clearancing

Although deleting the slipper will give a lot of room. Currently I'm on 54t 32p with room for a 60t and mip's

how do I go about deleting the slipper? I cant seem to find a good way to re use the existing parts in non slipper form to gain clearance..
seems like my only option if I want to run something bigger than an 87tooth. thanks guys

I'm not sure if you need a new top shaft to go along with that, never played with a slipper...

i wouldn't be worried about it being off balance if it came down to it they don't spin that fast to have any serious affects.
