What exactly is a BEC? ive briefly read on them and have heard of them over and over. Does it help just regulate voltage? How much are they? Do you think I would really need one on a stock rig? Also what is a good cheap basher servo that will turn 2.2s?

Long shot but try a different battery. When a battery fails it actually can spike in voltage. The stock esc does not like anything more than 6 Nimh/2s lipo.
I had the exact same symptoms, my 2s was apparently shorting causing my esc to over volt. Did not like full throttle at all, would sometimes respond to low throttle then shut down.

It happens with both of my Nihm batteries.

Im thinking of getting the Solar Servo D772 since it seems cheap and decent. What BEC should I get for it? Im looking at ordering from hobbypartz but with the BEC I am lost.

I ended up ordering one last night. Hopefully I have it by this weekend and can get the problem fixed.

have you tried driving it without the servo connected to elimaminate part ? and a bec will help a wee bit with giving the servo abit more power to turn the wheels left and right i used to run one but i think it blow my esc and servo so i dont use one anymore just my prefernece thats all
