Looking good! Fun to have a build of a 1:1 rig. I have really started to appreciate the XJ. I will probably have a 1:1 in the near future. Its sad there's no WJ body, i would buy one instantly since i as well miss my previous rig, a raised WJ.

i regret selling the XJ, but i'm trying to sell my turbo miata for a WJ (Laredo, V8, leather, with the Selec-trac transfercase) which will then get a 4" Iron Rock Offroad lift lol

Decided the stock led setup wasn't adequate (so the stock white LED's will be relocated for rock lighting) So, put in a call to Marc at Crawler Dad LED's and he hooked me up with a 5" v2 light bar and 2 small sections for headlights Decided to use the Tamiya YJ light tree parts for the rectangle headlights and lenses (trimmed the light bucket, but managed to lose the lenses-so ordered another set last night) So onto pics. Body has been cut to fit the tamiya buckets Headlight buckets have been trimmed flush so they'll mount to the body and LED's wired and in place, now just awaiting the lenses And finally, the lights mounted to the body (minus the lenses) And on big cat safari And you can't look at this thing at night MAJOR props to Marc!! Got serious. Ordered all kinds of goodies. Flysky gt3c radio, overkill rc hack kit (to make the radio 8 channels) 8 Chanel receiver, two solar d772 high torque servos (one for steering amd other will become a winch), a cc bec for powering steering, heyok dual led controller and relay winch controller. I also spent some time in the machine shop and made some aluminum goodies. Chassis mounted servo and winch mount, panhard bar kit, and a custom 3 link mount for the front axle. Pics to come next week once I finish a new drag link (current one is short so it looks funny but works) Huge props to Al at heyok for his crazy fast replies and helping me get sorted out! |

still tweaking my CMS setup but i think it's about done I had made an aluminum plate but my measurements were off and broke a screw off in it, so it's scrapped. So i used the shock tower mount with the legs trimmed off to mount the servo plate to the front end Also spent Saturday at work in the shop. Not my prettiest work, but i just wanted to know if it all fit. I might machine out new components in the future, but they work as is Upper link mount for the front as well as panhard setup I am getting maybe 1/16" compression (only if both fronts are fully stuffed) of travel limited by the panhard hitting the axle, but i'll live with it for now, but may try to put a bend in it |

that's in the works, i just read about doing that last night Oh, also added a 16T pinion to the order. So with the batteries, a Holmes Hobbies 35t motor will be next purcahse. Last edited by Richterat83; 12-27-2013 at 07:51 AM. |

Removed the factory eletronics box in favor of a radio shack box. Stuffed everything but the BEC inside it for now, but i've still got HeyOK led and winch controls coming. Not sure it will fit. Also ditched the burned out RX (at least i think it's the RX, i'll find out for sure when the new AX-10 gets here and i can test it) for a Flysky 8 channel RX and hacked the GT3C. Had to remove the RX from it's case though to fit it plus the wiring into the electronics box Also, ordered a Holmes 35t Torquemaster Expert motor. So, now i'll have the AE-2 (with bec for steering) 2x 2200mah 3s batteries (only drawing juice from one at a time) saddle mounted, 32p 11t pinion, 32p 56t spur, and now a 35t holmes motor. Should be a beast! Also ordered a soldering station so i'll be able to clean up the wiring further (Run my own wires instead of using multiple extentions with the way the ESC and eletronics are mounted. Oh, and bought an AX-10 Deadbolt "for the wife" along with the Vanquish Racing Stage 1 setup and 2 2200mah 2s batteries. |

Spent some time with the soldering iron Removed the hard soldered wires from the esc to to the motor in favor of a deans set of connectors. Also replaced the stock 27t for the Holmes 35t. Solders in HeyOk lighting controller with Al's dual deans and will be connecting the winch as well there. Added jst connectors for the headlights and light bar to the light controller as well. |

Ran my first scaler comp yesterday and thanks to steelerzman for the pics [img][/img] Ready at the start gate Managed to pull the shock out of the shock tower which required a trip to the pits, you can see it's not there in this pic Through 1 of the tunnels Then managed to strip the panhard mount free 2-3 times i think which all required trips back to the pits and finally ended up just HD Zip Tying it to get me to finish Trying to square up for the bridge and failling but it made for an interesting line, which I did get across hung up at the pipe riser but was able to back up and get going again Do work driver And across PVC bridge with random rollers on it. First driver rolled over backwards, so used all of my skinny pedal Well. .. that didn't work but managed to winch off of it attempt 2 was less skinny pedal and more winch Still managed to roll off but was able to winch myself upright no bounderies so i was still able to clear the gate at the end of the bridge. Home stretch!! and the last descent to the finish. In the words of Jezza. . . . POWWAAAA!!! lawn darted it but stayed upright through the finish |
