Im already thinking of getting another scx10 and everything ive done here will be done again..What can i add to it? Some of these parts i bought that i ended up selling before i completed the rig...some parts i hadnt purchased yet but this was my list to complete the rig. 1.) Locked Up spools and H.D rear axles. 2.) Underdrive rear gears. 3.) Pitbull rockbeast tires 4.) Crawler Innovation Tire foams 5.) Locked up Slipper eliminator kit 6.) Beef tubes 7.) A different body (Proline Ford F250 superduty) The spools, beef tubes and rear axles mainly to add weight down low so i could remove some from the wheels which totaled over 1lb of added rotating mass from stick on weights..I did lose some run time with this. The tires and foams...well not much to say but they are among the best you can get for traction and can improve performance at any level. The slipper eliminatir kit...Just wanted to see if it made it lighter up higher on the truck. The underdrive gears to aid in turning and better climbing. The body because im a ford fan..lol Not all low cost items but what i wouldve chosen to finish off the truck with. Last edited by 6sharky9; 05-01-2015 at 07:15 AM. | |

There is an easier way on the front travel I removed the piece on the chassis that holds the third screw on the battery tray. Either keep the tray in the stock position with out the screw or basically flip the tray around witch also transfers the weight back just a little.

Such a great thread with tons of great info and reengineering. I hope you get a new one soon Sharky. I'd hate to have to let mine go. This hobby (total obsession) has been the best thing to happen to me since I rode my first motorcycle.

Hey Y'all I know this is an old thread but, there is some good info here. Just starting a couple of builds on a SCX10 Honcho, and a Rubicon. I have done all the mods that were suggested on the first page with a couple of differences. The front cross member/battery mount on the Honcho. To get it out of the way and retain the front battery mount location (I like it there). Simply used a couple of the level3-rc lift kit mounts and moved it up and out of the way. Ended up making a set of brackets and doing the same thing on the Rubicon. [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] Since those pics were taken, the front end was upgraded to 8 degree alloy C-blocks and knuckles with alloy tie rod and steering link. To balance out the weight of the battery up front on the Honcho just glued a few lead weights under the spare tire in the back of the truck. That keeps the weight on the frame. Along with the aluminum beadlocks and 6oz of wheel weights up front, it's near unstoppable. I'm running 2.2 ripsaws right now with a 27T motor and a 14T pinion. Plenty of wheel speed and enough grunt to get her in and out of trouble. Anyway just wanted to shout out to sharky and say "great work". |

Another great free mod is adding plastic tube into drive shafts. Just find 6mm piece of plastic tree from the extra parts bag and stick it into the drive shaft and sand it down with a dremel to correct length. Here is a video of this mod that uses a M6-60mm instead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oj4YGoFhMT0 |

Hi guys...6sharky9 here.. Cant get into old email to retrieve password so started a new account and forgot the "r" in the name..sigh...need to see if admin can help me with a name change...ive since moved from West virginia to Kansas and was able to find a local group dedicated to trail/crawling so i hope to get back into the fun and join some local competitions and fun runs. Im getting back into this with a new SCX10.2 so will most likely be moving to that section soon. Thanks to all those for the positive comments...i hope to maybe hear from some of you on how things went following some of the tips and tricks on here.
