Sharky,
Thank you. I've been afraid to buy an SCX10, because my Twin Hammers, set up to crawl with a 27t motor and other mods, out crawled my friend's stock Honcho. He eventually spent several hundreds of dollars on upgrades to make it perform "almost" as well as my Vaterra. I've spent about $100 to get my rig to its current level of performance. I wanted a scale looking truck, like an SCX10, but I did not want to sacrifice performance and could not afford to put that much money into a second rc vehicle. I now feel confident that I can have a scale appearing truck that performs well on a budget. I do have one question. I can't view the photos in your thread. Do you know why?

Ty,,its not all my knowledge..I just chose to put it in one place and add my twist to it with more explanations rather than just saying do this or that.

Ive learned most of these tips and tricks here myself.

Knowing why you do something and how it helps is far more important than just doing it because you read about it.

Looking forward to seeing a thread from you on your rig

Great write up and have started doing the mods to my Rubicon need to get the 16T in there. One question do you just cut the shock limiter out or disassemble the whole shock?

You can take a razor or really anything and cut down on it. It's just a piece of rubber and cuts pretty easily.

I use imgur for hosting photos. Photobucket kinda sucks, big time. Otherwise, great thread

You can cut them off or its not really that bad to remove the lower shock ends and take them off complete...if you ever get longer shocks you can use them as inside limiters or outside limiters or find some other use for them...I did cut mine off though...just lift the spring up and its not that bad.

Agreed. Disassembly is better than destruction, one can always repurpose old stuff for something else down the road. Just disconnect the bottom, wrap the shock shaft with a rag and grip it with pliers then twist off the rod end. The end.

Snarky I wanted to thank you for the write up, I'm not so much new to RC but I am new to the crawling aspect of it. This was a very informative read and I am looking forward to the rest of it.

Im not sure I would call it a part 2...The only thing really left to do is buy more upgrades if you want them or if you find yourself in situations where you are breaking things and NEED the upgrades..Im learning more the longer I test and learn the scx10...maybe more of an update to this thread if anything.
