Default Tonka Mighty Roughneck F150 SCX10 build

I was over at my parents yesterday and found my old Tonka #3820 Mighty Roughneck Pickup. This thing was my all time favorite toy! I put more knee miles on this thing than a hooker on a Friday night.

I got to thinking that this think would make cool (but heavy) scale rig. It looks like a early to mid 80's F150 and has a steel body with realistic interior.

Here is what it looked like on Christmas of 1982...

And 32 years later...

After taking some measurements, it looks like it's about the same wheelbase as a Dingo.

So I dove on in with the cutoff wheel and opened her up...

There is a nice gap up inside that I believe will clear the tranny and spur perfectly. Gotta figure out how I'm going to mount it.

that's pretty cool, looks like you could the hood removable for a battery or maybe a esc and receiver. can you notch the front bumper where I can see some blue steel under the front bumper, so the chassis slides in the front and maybe a spare tire in the bed the goes thru and ties the body and chassis together and is removable so the body comes off and on by removing the spare.

This is going to be a great build. I've always wanted one of those Tonka RVs for my trail rig body. Price and shipping killed that dream for me...

I had one of those as a kid as well. Coolest toy ever for a boy who loved 4x4 trucks. You could take the tires off and it had a winch. Had a driver as well which I ended up breaking one of his legs off. Wished I still had mine. Wonder what happened to it. Don't know that I would be able to cut into it if I did.

Wow, flashback. I completely forgot I had one of those. And I'm talking 34 years ago.

There was also a Jeep looking version also. Anyone remember it? I had both of them.

I thought they made a Ram Charger that you could change wheels on also, I think the neighbor kid had one, maybe I'm wrong and it was the Bronco

the suv style goes between 20$ and 100$ plus shipping depending on condition and accessories . i havent seen a pickup less than 80 +S$H but they were all in really good shape. i got my suv style for 50$ shipped and its rough but thats what i was looking for. these pries are from a while ago so they may have changed. this is just what i remember
