pro- you can have a go fast and really low crawling gear. can decrease motor temps if used properly.

con- adds to driveline slop and the scx-10 isnt much of a handler with speed. Or you can cook a motor if used improperly.

Personally I swapped in an Axial dig transmission case (ax-2/ wraith), dig unit, and steel internal gears. Works great and is more capable than a 2 speed will be. You can turn sharper, use the dig to get the front to grab on a climb, and have 2wd if you use the freewheel option.

nothing wrong with the stock tranny.

two speed would be ridiculous for a crawler...
unless it were geared low and compound low. Lol/jmo

for the rock racer/bouncer... suppose reckless speed is a thrill Lol

volt up - gear down... torque rules

until you strip out the mounting holes...then its time for aluminum!

I went cheap through Asiatees and got a GCM tranny and metal gears for less than 40 bucks total, no problems so far, I don't trust all cheap china parts, but these seem to be fine, all parts fit together great and look good doing it

That's exactly what I did. I stripped the tranny mounts because I was taking it on and off too much. After I went to 3s I stripped the gears and just purchased a GPM aluminum trans from ebay and some steel gears from the same place.
