If they're the same material as the Xtra Speed (same as Boom Racing) ones on the orginal SCX10 they're made from a heavyweight zinc based alloy.
Softer than most grades of aluminium but much heavier.

It was the same for me. Some people have zero issues, the less fortunate have to use the dremel to fit the big bearing.

On mine, the internal bearing pressed in nicely with just a little effort, but the external bearing was a bit loose. I needed to use a 0.5mm shim on the exterior of the output shaft. Fits nice nicely and spins perfectly.

Mine required a little sanding on the inside bearing pocket. I really like mine and my SSD parts transferred over perfectly even the diff covers. . I like that you can still use the SSD weights with these although they are plenty heavy without the weights. My VP Curries are very nice but for the price I'm sticking with these for future builds.

I got my axles today.

You can go here (finnish equivalent to rcc) and see some pics (weights etc.):
https://www.rc-offi.net/smf/index.ph...96203#msg96203

First impressions: Excited. Worried about the longevity of front axle shafts and gears.

In short:
- Everything fit together OK
- Axle housings did NOT come with the 2,6x18 screws for the diff cover! That was a BUMMER
- Had to scrape paint from link mount positions from axle, so that the mounts seated properly
- Had to widen pinion bearing hole (as the product page suggests)
- Had to widen up one side of knuckle smaller bearing holes
- I love how far and tight the axle shafts go into the locker
- One knuckle moved very freely, other bind pretty bad. Had to file paint out from the holes where the bushings go. Is now better.
- I don't remember if Axial rear axle shafts had that, but there is a "spacer" in the Xtra speed version to have two bearings per rear axle shaft.
- Old links with YotaII work almost perfectly with these, I just need to make a tiny bit longer upper covers to straighten the axle
- Total weight of axles: 466 grams

I'm running them.

Fit was great. They seem to work well but I haven't had a chance to torture test them yet.

I got my pair today and swapped all my internals. Had to sand out the paint on the big pinion bearing but that's it. The rest fit nicely. I'm running the factory diff covers while the paint on the new ones is drying. I assume it'll scratch back off but I really hate red running one in each of the rears of my two rigs. Hopefully that will help the back end stay down on declines. Been having issues with that on the Heep.

How have you guys shimmed the xtra speed gears with these axles?

The only way I have been able to shim them without any hint of binding or bad sounding grinding has been to make sure there are no shims behind the pinion gear and the ring gear has to be shimmed to be as far away as possible from the pinion.

There's shims on the outside so that the pinion can't move inwards.

I don't run the extra speed gears, but on the stock gears, I shimmed the ring gear away from the pinion, and I think a .1mm shim under the pinion. I have very little backlash, and it ran a little rough at first, the gears are not perfect so gotta let it wear together. Now is very smooth after a couple runs with very little backlash. Putting shims on the outside of the pumpkin for the pinion does very little as the pinion's natural tendency is to go away from the ring.

The way to do it is keep adding .1mm shims just till it binds, then back off that.1mm shim that made the gears bind. Do the pinion first, then the ring.
