Cool vid! Love the hinges too, just not sure I want to mess with ultra tiny screws.

This is a great rig. Had mine for a few months now and my only regret is I wish I could get it out a little more. Kept mine stock and got lucky with my build, I only have minor clicking issues and I figure I will fix that when it is time for a complete transmission rebuild.

I recently installed the MyTrickRC light kit on mine too, in prep for the shorter days that are ahead.

Thanks RCBrutus!

Yeah, the micro screws were tough to work with, but the end result was totally worth it!

Luckily my trans was click free from the factory. It was all assembled correctly. The one portal gear seemed to be the source of my minor click.

The days are getting shorter really quick! I've been eyeing the MyTrickRC light kit. How do you like it?

It’s legit, easy to install and throws off a ton of light.

Haven’t used it yet on the rocks but this pic was taken in my driveway. This is on the highest intensity so it can be dialed down a bit.

I’m running the MyTrick leds on two trucks. The Halos are the bomb!
I’m using two different controllers , both work as advertised.

Oh yeah, I remember seeing yours now that you mention it! Love how the Halos look!

So, question for you both.

Is this the kit with the DG-1 Dragon contoller and do you run the lights off of your receiver power or are you running the lights off of your battery or extra battery?

You got it, this is the set with the DG-1 controller.

https://www.mytrickrc.com/shop/axial...con-light-kit/

I am powering it off of my main battery, using the balance port.

Default B-MOW's SCX10 V3 JLU RTR Rubicon Recon Edition

I didn’t buy a kit, I speced both right on the website, ordered direct and was faster than the AMain order from the same day.

On my JL the DG1 is powered directly off my 3s with an adapter adapter between the ESC and XT60. With the extra ports on the DG1 I’m running 6 green halos, 4 as rock lights switched low, medium, blinding.

On my Overland I’m using the UF7, no halos, but 13 lights and with my rx and 1080 set to 7.4, nice and bright. If I run it at 6v off the rx , not impressed with brightness.

Main headlights are bright white 5mm, surrounded by the 17mm green halos.
You can hear the beeps, as I switch. My rock lights do the same brightness levels, they weren’t installed here yet.

Thanks for the link! That's the kit I was looking at! I definitely be powering direct from the battery!

Thanks for the info Mike! I'll keep your setup in mind.

My plan is to order direct from MyTrick's website.

"4 as rock lights switched low, medium, blinding"........"Blinding"...I like that!

Lights look great on your big rig!

I saw this after i ordered my Gladiator. So I did a tear down on mine as well but could you elaborate more on the portal gears? Mine look to be the same on either side Maybe they changed the gears between the models? Also my portals have little to no grease as well. Going to check the diffs and trans/tcase next.

Havent run it yet, its been raining so figured good time to give everything a once over.

One side is more beveled on the edges. No changes from what I’ve seen

This is the only pic I took and it shows the WRONG side. If you look close in this pic, you can see how the pin slot is squared off. On the other side, the RIGHT side, it is rounded/cupped so that the pin fits in tight. Look close at your gear and you should see the difference. Hope this helps!

That is a damn fine looking rig, well done sir!

The 10.3 looks like a very capable platform, and a blast to operate.

Thanks man!

Axial did a great job on this one! It has great looks with the scale JLU body and it does perform well out of the box! I've only done slight mods to it and it did great on its first run!

Took the JLU out yesterday for another trail run at Honey Run. The weather was great and was the perfect day to wheel the rigs! Had a great turnout. There was between 15 to 20 other rigs there. I think everybody had the same idea that I had. Looks like it may be one of the last nice days to get out for awhile. The weatherman is calling for 6-8 inches of snow starting today and lasting till Wednesday! Not looking forward to that!

I didn't get too many pics, but I did get some great video. I'm going to work on getting the vids together and get it uploaded to YT.

You may notice a few additions I've made to the JLU since i've lasted posted.
I haven't had a chance here lately to keep this thread updated, so I'll work on that soon and get them posted.

Thanks for taking a look!

As I mentioned in my last post, I made some additions and added some scale bits to the JLU. Over the past couple weeks I've been gathering parts to add to the scale look of the JLU body. I don't normally like to add unwanted and useless weight to bodies, but since this body looks so good, I'm dedicating this rig to scale trailing and less aggressive rock climbing. I have plenty of other very capable rigs to go out and conquer awesome wicked lines! Just gonna keep this one scale with smaller tires!

First up I went with the Yeah Racing light bar. It's made with a nice aluminum housing and had aluminum mounts. I added a braided sleeve to cover the wires to hide the wires inside the cab.

I found a cheap set of metal sliders on eBay. Nicely made, but are a bit heavy. They mount up to the existing mounting holes where the stock plastic sliders mounted. They should protect the body from rock rash well!

I found this bumper on Thingiverse. I printed it in PLA, sanded and shot it with some flat black paint. The red hooks were also part of the STL file. The bumper seems pretty beefy, so we'll see how well it hold up. Also, it does have light buckets for the ends of the bumpers. I just haven't installed them yet.

And lastly, I purchased the grill insert from Knight Customs on Myminifactory. Nice easy print and fits right between the grill and the body nicely. No need for glue. It is sandwiched in very tightly. I was going to shot some flat black paint on it, but it printed so well I decided to just leave it as raw plastic.
