We made a family trip out to Broken Dam today. This time, the Wraith was sporting some brand spankin new Swampers, & I was anxious to compare them to the R35 Ripsaws. They weren't as easy to mount to the wheels as the Ripsaws, but it wasn't too bad.

On the rocks, they are a very good tire. They stuck to the rocks very well, & the big lugs really grab the rock. I was really impressed with the rock performance, & I give them a little bit of an edge over the Ripsaws as a rock tire.

The other type of terrain at Broken Dam is patches of sand among the rocks. This was where the Swampers were a huge letdown. They just wanted to dig & dig. Even with very little throttle, they just dug themselves in, & at full throttle, would dig themselves in until the tires were completely buried. The Ripsaws definitely win in the sand.

So, based on these two types of terrain, I would give say the Ripsaw is the better tire by a small margin. I would guess that the Swampers would win in the mud. Anyway, my opinion is you really can't go wrong with either of these tires. On to some pix

Here's where the Swampers bring the suck. Not only would they dig, but the wet sand to dry rock transition meant no traction. The Ripsaws made it up this yesterday with medium throttle. I made it up this once today, & that was just a full on throttle assault. Good thing we had another rig with us today

Merry Christmas everyone

Well, not much has been happening with the Wraith lately. I've been patiently waiting for universals to show up somewhere so I can do my 4ws conversion. I have everything else I need. So in the meantime, I decided to get another set of wheels. After way too much internal debate, I decided to go with Locked Up's Trailready inspired wheels. Patrick worked with me when I told him I had aftermarket steering & did the extra research to make sure they would work. By extra research I mean he bought a full Vanquish front end & then machined the wheels to work with that. That's service

Anyway on to the pics:

I had the itch to get out & test the new wheels, so I went back out to Broken Dam today. I also brought my new camera to try out. The creek was pretty high due to all the rain we've had lately, but still had a good amount of terrain to crawl. The wheels worked really well, & look great too.

Slickwillie those videos turned out sweet, and your wraith is looking real good brother. Can't wait to see it with the 4WS all over those rocks.

Nice looking rig you have there. I like the firewall. It looks like a pair of sunglasses. I have the same driver in my wraith. I thought it was Sam Fisher. I sent you a pm. And we well go crawling together.
